I have to admit, my colleage and I are sitting here at work scatching our heads about the bad Volo food review. We love the Volo burger and our only complaint is the last time we went to Volo for lunch, the burger was sold out at the time. Otherwise we have found it very tasty. I have had many diffe...

Granite cask ale dinner

I along with some friends attended the Granite cask ale dinner on Saturday June 3rd. It was a first class event with good food, five quality cask ales and a fun atmosphere. It was a great value for $45 per person. My friends and I had a great night and it was nice to chat to the likes of Ken from Bl...

I was at the cottage on the weekend and stopped at the Barley Room pub nearby. They had both the Red Coat Pale and the Triple Chin Dark on tap so I tried one of each. Both were fresh tasting and in good form, especially the Red Coat. As it turns out, the owners of the Waring House restaurant and the...

I agree about the quality of this new canned version of Fullers London Pride. I read in another post about this so I tried the canned version a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed. It seemed to have a fresher flavor and a fruitier nose. Its a very good effort on their part.

Bottled Black Oak Hop Bomb?

Just to restate something from another post. If there was a way for Black Oak to do some Hop Bomb in bottled form, that would be great. This is just wishful thinking on my part. I realize that this is normally only done in cask form from time to time. But as far as local "session" beers go...

Mr. Woods, if there was any possibility of bottled Hop Bomb (even if only at the brewery), it would be awesome! I would support this with my wallet for sure!

Now that I see this post, I thought the pint of the Sargent Majors I had last night at BB might have been slightly different than usual. I wonder if the keg at BB is also the new batch brewed by Heritage? It was very good but I thought the colour was a little darker copper than usual. As well, the h...

I am very impressed with this beer. I grabbed a six pack on the way back from the U.S. last spring and found it very tasty. I'm glad to revisit this once again. I think the beer has a fine balance between the fresh hop bitterness and the malt. I have already bought two cases as I feel @ $2 each this...

Greg, speaking for myself, I grabbed 8 for now as I am taking the subway home from work. There were 20 or so left after I took my 8. I did not ask to see if there was more in the stockroom.

I used to find the Chop House a great place to enjoy a pint. I remember having Black Oak Nutcracker there a couple of years ago. Ive been there a few times since the change to Dr. Generousity but the beer selection is a few steps below the Chop House standard.

The Dark Horse Pub

Just a heads up to those that live in the west end of the city. There is a brittish style pub called the Dark Horse on Bloor just east of Jane that has a decent number of beers on tap as well as a nice patio. They have decent pub food as well. I have been going on and off for about a year now and I ...
