where exactly is your friend gonna be? He is flying in to Pearson (YYZ) picking up the car in Milton and doing some Christmas shopping in downtown Toronto (Eaton Center and area) before heading home. Some good suggestions so far. I haven't had the Denison's Weissbier or the Mill Street Barleywine. ...

What to buy in Ontario?
I'm in Newfoundland and a friend of mine is flying to Toronto next week and returning in a small car. He has offered to bring back a small amount of any beer I request. What should I get? I am familiar with the Ontario beer scene. I lived in Toronto 88-89 and usually get back to Ontario a couple of ...

The Yellowbelly is selling its beer from the brewery in growlers and one liter swing top bottles. I've been told that they will be available at some retail locations soon. I'm not sure if the retailers are the NLC or corner store beerstores. Its my opinion that the Yellowbelly St John's Stout is one...

St. John's brewer heads campaign vs. foreign brands
It looks like the cat is out of the bag here in Newfoundland. Labatt and Molson are foreign owned. I support any brewer making better beer. I have two growlers of Yellowbelly beers in my fridge  David Rees is getting people around here talking about beer. That is a good thing. http://www.cbc.c...

I just got back home from Mondial last night. I had a great time. The beer selection was a little overwelming to me. Hopfenstark had a very nice cask ale and their Berliner Weisse would be a great session beer. Dieu Du Ciel's Aphrodisiaque is a lovely, flavourful stout. The highlight for me was Mikk...

I know I'm too excited to sleep :) I'm looking forward to having the Beer Geek Breakfast and trying the Hopfenstark Berliner Weiss, among many others. I see on lew Bryson's blog that he is giving a presentation. Is that open to the public? Or is it a media only event? I'd be interested in attending ...

"The 5 Finest European Beers" magazine article
An interesting article in this month's Air Canada Enroute magazine.

While it might look depressing from an Ontario point of view, I don't think it's that bad of a start from a NF point of view, for the following reasons: 1) This is the first one. 2) The average Newfoundlander drinks blue star, black horse or some other molson/labatt localized brand. The pub scene d...

Newfoundland Liquor Corp "Beer Fest"
Have a look at the beer line up for the NLC's Beer Fest. Pathetic. By all accounts they do a fantastic Wine Fest and a great Spirit Fest but they just don't take beer seriously. I'm sure looking forward to Montreal in June!! Goverment run alcohol monopolies must end. http://www.nlliquor.com/events/b...
