Re: Brothers Brewing

I thought this video was terrible. Put more focus on the actual product and less on the unfunny "lol lets go viral" shtick. I'll agree with that! I've only tried one of their products, "Cocoa Woman", which is a chocolate gose. WTF to that style right? It was somewhat worse than ...

Let's not pick on someone who's clearly an active and engaged BarTowel member. Someone who's posted here over 400 times on a variety of topics is clearly not a shill.

I finally got to try the Smuttynose Finest Kind. It's in stock in the Dufferin Mall Beer Store for those of you brave enough to venture there.

Re: Beer Coming to Grocery Stores?

"At least 20% of shelf space in all grocery stores, LCBOs and Beer Stores will be dedicated to beer from small breweries – both from Ontario and elsewhere – with “small ” defined as those that brew less than 4.6 million six-packs a year" That seems like a big number, but not sure I have a...

The tanking Canadian dollar has to hit the price at some point. We just need to start importing lots of booze from countries with equally crappy currencies like South Africa or Australia.

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Maybe they'll call this Dry-Hopped Sour 'Four Winds'. I don't know what they're going to call it, but it's pretty tasty. Vaguely reminiscent of a cross between Rodenbach Vintage and a dry-hopped Hill Farmstead farmhouse. Not as vinegary as the Rodenbach, and not with the depth and complexity of the...

Re: Best Bottle Shops

I hit up Rainhard one afternoon. For me the location is just too far to make this a regular stop when accessing by TTC. They only had 2 beers, a black IPA and Tru Grit which is a Farm House Ale (I think). I have tried neither beer yet so this isn't a criticism of the product but rather, hours, loca...

Beer Can Shortage

The NY Times has an article about a shortage of beer cans for craft brewers:

Anyone know of any Ontario brewers that have been affected?

Re: Ontario Announces First Winning Bidders for Sale of Beer in Grocery Stores

It's been rather funny listening to coworkers discussing the beer in grocery stores. Basically, if you live in downtown Toronto not a single store you might access got it. So as more Torontonians start to figure this out, I think they might be feeling a bit left out.

Re: Ontario Announces First Winning Bidders for Sale of Beer in Grocery Stores

As with all first steps after deregulating anything previously government controlled, the beer list is ho hum - nothing new. The exciting part is for the future. Once other retailers get a taste of the sales/profit potential, the floodgates will open. The retail lobby will pressure the gov to expan...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I'm finding the Lake Effect very bitter, almost burnt rubber bitter and metallic. The tropical fruit is there, but in a sour rocket jolly rancher kind of way. Not impressed. Maybe I'm crazy. Nope, not crazy. I'm totally with you. Found it rather underwhelming last night when I tried it. Lots of bit...

Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

Any cocktail fans in here who'd want to split an order of Carpano Antica Formula vermouth? The finest vermouth for Manhattans, in my experience! Also on the cocktail front: anyone have experience using oak cubes to barrel-age cocktails? I bought some from BYOB but I'm not sure how many to use and f...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

So the well-sourced rumour is that their new location at Dupont and Dovercourt is taking forever and that they have leased another facility in the junction for production in the interim. Not too much in the way of details, but I trust the source.
