Sounds better than the dreadful Shakespeare Ale House in Terminal Three. Nothing cask but badly kept Draught Bass last time I was there. Unfortunately, Air Canada from Toronto uses T3.

I have to agree with Bobbyok on this one, even though I'm generally a fan of English and Scottish ales. It's too sweet and too oaky for me. It is quite remiscent of bourbon though (IMO), but watered and sweetened bourbon.

Tasted much like a bock to me though. A bit reminiscent of the lovely Mill Street Helles Bock.

Sorry O.F., this is slightly unforgivable, I know, but I don't recall. I was in for some wine, and picked up the Propeller when I was pleasantly surprised to see it. I think it was the Oatmeal, but that's a guess.

Has the Fall Release ever been finalized? In any event, I spotted the following at Wilson and Dufferin yesterday:

- Propeller ESB
- Sam Smith Stout
- St. Peter's Old Style Porter

Presume these are all part of the new release. Particularly glad to see the Propeller.

The fast ferry was kind of fun for the kids, and interesting enough, but it does not save you any time. 2.5 hour crossing, plus they ask you to be there an hour in advance (if you are taking your car), plus lineups at customs, so I'd say the door-to-door journey from my house in north Toronto to a s...

Rochester NY

Went to Rochester this weekend on the fast ferry. The Old Toad really is a curious place, isn't it? Quite an oasis, but on a bit of a desolate stretch of a pretty well deserted downtown street, at least at 5 p.m. yesterday. Four beer engines (three operational), as well as various keg and bottled mi...

Porters were historically brewed in England to approximate the the Stouts brewed in Ireland. As Gary points out, this is incorrect. The brewing of porter in England pre-dates the origins of stout in Ireland by several decades at least. Guinness was founded in 1759 to brew porter, and extra stout po...

I noticed this - the Nickel Brook Ale at least - is now in the LCBO. They had it today at Dufferin and Wilson.
