Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

The LCBO at Yonge & Summerhill is also a very beer-friendly location.

I'm curious - how did you get this beer (which is fantastic, by the way) into Ontario with its existing labelling? I'm sure I read somewhere that the LCBO has a bunch of restrictions on labelling, one of which is not having naked women on the bottle  Another I recall is not having Santa Claus...

Perry, any way we can get a hold of one of your tap handles? Those are the coolest ones I've ever seen....

This is a great Imperial Stout, and certainly an interesting one. True to Victory form, it is seriously hopped, which is a little bit unuual for an Imperial Stout.

Perry, this is one fine beer. You must have picked up some tips from south of the border because this beer is quite reminiscent of some of the great American IPAs. In fact, it reminds me of a really tasty brewpub beer you can find in Buffalo called Inferno Pod Ale (hint, figure out the acronym for t...

Second the MapRoom recommendation. Its a little hole-in-the-wall, College pool-hall type place, with 30 incredible taps

Dont forget to stop by a Binny's liquor store before you leave. Very good beer selection.

For a Premium Beer market, I have to believe that Premier Gourmet has as much pressure from its competitors as an equivalent store would up here from the LCBO. Not only do they have another high-caliber store less than an hour away (Rochester Beers of the World), but you have to compete with high qu...

I think the main problem is the unfortunate reality that, with only a few exceptions, the beers we enjoy are not going to sell well. Ever. I would think it reasonable (and quite frankly, in the LCBO's interest to build prestige) to devote some small amount of shelf space to specialty products. We ca...

Agree with you about the Gale's. I've only tried the LCBO "vintage", but its really really awful. 3 times I tried it, three times it was like drinking a bottle of balsamic.

Went to Detroit this past weekend, and stopped by the Royal Oak Merchant's Fine Wine location (supposedly the best of the three). Very impressive store, nearly on par with Premier Gourmet. Its about 15 minutes outside of Detroit off Hwy 1 (Woodward ave). Some stuff that was there that I don't believ...

Exactly how many bottles are we talking about? I suspect that Bartowel readers alone could probably wipe out the selection in the city if we tried!

Just curious, does that LCBO lab fee apply to *every* greater-than-5 Case order in a year, or just the first one?
