Interesting... I will be in Detroit in mid-February, and all the recommendations I found were for Merchant of Vino as well.

Also mentioned was the Bell's, so I suppose they must be big fans. Premier Gourmet does not carry Bell's, so thats a very good thing.

Unusual that the LCBO is picking up both the Shakespeare and the Wild Irish ... Does the LCBO purchaser know that they are the same beer?

I guess if you can sell the same thing twice though, theres nothing to complain about

True, very true. Its certainly a quite enjoyable beer! As for the HopDevil, I compared it to one that I had sitting at home. No comparison, the HopDevil wins out. (Hoping to pick up some fresh Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale this weekend, which is truely the crowning glory in American IPAs in my opini...

Well, call it what you will, but the american hops are so prominent that it's as close to an American IPA as you will see 'round these parts

The Old Brown Dog is a really good, interesting brown ale, and the Shoals Pale is a classic American IPA (Would that make it the only one you could buy in the city? I wouldnt call the Anchor Liberty Ale an IPA)

Picked up some last night. Its *really* harsh. The alcohol is extremely upfront, even more than a fresh Rogue Imperial Stout. At the same time, I dont know if its got enough oomph to age well. Its not a particularly heavy I.S. , both in terms of alcohol content (8%) or substance. Still, a pretty goo...

I have the backwards opinion - I thought the 3Floyds Alpha King was excellent (and takes the prize for most hop aroma), while the Middle Ages IPA was just too hoppy, very unbalanced. In fact, both beers were unbalanced but the Alpha King suited my tastes more. We both agree the HopDevil is excellent...

Well, the Smoke isnt tempting me (Same reason I dislike the Immort Ale and, for that matter, the Alba Scots Pine from Scotland - 'Wood' is not a flavor I pleasantly associate with anything other than a big steak  ), but a mixed case of the Impy, McRogue and Crustacean would be nice. Thanks fo...

<drool> Time to empty my pockets into Victory's coffers

I wonder, are those Rogue XS cases like a sampler pack, or just a case of one kind of bottle? Those little suckers are pricey but some kind of value sampler case would hit the spot...

Josh, you've piqued my curiosity. Even though I disliked the Immort Ale from the same brewery, I'll give it a try if its available. I've never actually been to ratebeer.com. Interesting site. Here's the top 10(9) stouts from there (WorldWide stout is in fact listed as a Barleywine): 1)Victory Storm ...

I quite enjoy the Brooklyn as an example of a completely different kind of Imperial Stout (much roastier). Its also one of the few cases where IMO the chocolate has been integrated properly. The Youngs Double Chocolate (and for that matter, the Rogue Chocolate) taste like chocolate pop (whats that c...

Just got me thinking ... What other Imperial Stouts are there to us Ontarians (by any means) ? The Wellington was a very nice example of the style, a pleasant surprise at the fest. From Premier Gourmet, the Victory (Storm King) and Rogue (Imperial Stout) seem to be always available. Both very good. ...

Hi Peter,

Believe me, demand is here  I think at the price of a case of that beer (if a case is 24 bottles), the $130 lab fee is pretty easily absorbed even for less than 10 cases.

I wonder, though: Does that imply a lengthy delay at the LCBO 'lab'?

Peter, just to make sure I'm not dreaming - You can bring in New Glarius Belgium Red's for us?

I think that would be a fantastic offer at any price, and *greatly* appreciated around these parts!
