I've tried a lot of this batch before, so my favorite new find is not necessarily my favorite of the bunch. The new beer I really liked was the St. Peter's Cream Stout. Milk chocolate, medium roasted coffee and bitterness in perfect balance with a killer slick creamy mouthfeel. I was totally underwh...

Yeah, the Burton Porter is odd with a little sourness and the metalic notes, but I didn't think it was offensive by any means. Not the best of the fall releases, but cetainly not the worst. I actually thought the slight sourness (not the same kind of sourness as a skunky beer) complimented the sligh...

A friend brought me up a six pack of Bells Two Hearted Ale from the states this weekend and I'm having one with lunch right now. Going to do a side-by-side tasting with DFH 60 and Southern Tier when I get more time. Delicious.

I think the fact that a really fine lager like Brooklyn is not selling very well in Ontario speaks volumes about the beer buying public in the provence and really does question how well certain kinds of privatized liquor sales would do. Certainly, you could sell crap beer in every corner store, but ...

The Westmalle Dubbel has shown up early in Hamilton now as well.....and on the shelves in 6-packs with absolutely no english on them no less. The cashier had to aks me if the $3.45 that scanned in (on the bottle) was for the six pack or just one bottle. Haha. As LCBO annoyance seems to be constant ...

Lesson, read the thread? Yes, yes. Read the thread....and yes, by the time they apear in stores it will indeed be October. How often though, despite the best info on the Bar Towel, has product shown up at stores before being listed or even advertised, not been delivered as promised, has reapeared mo...

Interestingly, a bunch of gift packs are actually coming up on the LCBO system already. No cities/stores yet, but they are indeed in the system. They can't becoming in this early, can they? Maybe just in the warehouse, waiting for the season perhaps.

I like beer. I like talking about beer. I used to like reading about beer on the bar towel. Posts are getting a little ridiculous lately. Not taking sides or excusing anyones behavior, but if there are problems between members, perhaps its just best to let it get sorted out between the individuals i...

Had a grand ol' Grand River weekend. Had the Executioner's and the Mill Race Mild (among many others) at the Castle on King on Saturday night and stopped by the brewery to taste/pick up some Bumbleberry Wheat, Vlaams Rood, Hannenburg Pills and Town Hall Lager on the way home on Sunday......they say ...

Keeping Unpasteurized Beers

I had a puzzling find when I returned home from a trip this weekend. A bottle of Neustadt Big Dog Porter has spectacularly exploded in my kitchen. It was sitting on a box on my kitchen floor. It had burst the flaps on the box open, the beer exploded onto my ceiling, all 4 walls and the top half of t...

I broke my one and only Stella half pinter a couple of months ago, so I'm actually excited about the Stella pack (nice glass.....awful beer to chug down, but what are you going to do). This is easily the best gift pack selection I can remember seeing at the LCBO. Thanks for posting it Greg, thanks t...

I just got a case of the Dogfish Head into my local LCBO. I quite like it, though I do prefer the strong hop finish in the Southern Tier. Nevertheless, both beers quench my thirst for hops. The DFH actually reminded me a fair bit of the Nelson I.P.A. I bought while out in Vancouver this summer. Any...

one of the most under-rated ontario brewers, the 10w30 is alway a good buy and the lager is a quality brew. the scottish ale didnt really do much for me but it wasnt bad in any way. Could re-try it IME. My take is, yes, these ARE all uner-rated beers in Ontario. Sometimes the Scot Ale doesn't grab ...

I am thrilled with these offereings. Especially the Westmalle. I was eyeing a Westmalle gift pack in Alberta a while back with a 500ml challice, 3 dubbel and 3 trippel, but my suitcase was already full :( I'm no longer kicking myself for not picking it up. Now if only we could get that elusive Roche...
