Re: What're you drinking right now?

Bolshevik Bastard Love the price for the 355mL bottles at the LCBO. My stock of RIS's from Buffalo has run out so I picked up a bottle, it doesn't hold a candle to Old Rasputin, Storm King or any of the other basic American stouts. The Bolshevik tastes almost worty, like it isn't finished. The hops ...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Interesting that Rodenbach put "ripens with age" on the bottle and there were discussions here last year and the general thought was that it does not 'ripen'. From my experience with Vintage 2010, the sweetness fades leaving the subtle flavours more noticeable. There can be microflora agi...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Anyone try the 2013 Rodenbach Vintage? I'm enjoying it much more than 2012. Great stuff. agreed, this blend is very drinkable. Though technically not a "blend" as its all from the same foeder. ;) Interesting that Rodenbach put "ripens with age" on the bottle and there were discu...

Re: GTA Coffee

what are tasting notes, looks sweet whereas the Bourbon series looks very unique - we should split the beans! The bourbon series looks great, I had the red bourbon twice now as espresso and it blew me away. I picked up some Guatamala La Bolsa and it is like nothing they have had yet. Almost reminds...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Ayinger Oktober Fest-Marzen I can't believe how much the LCBO screwed up this release. I am really interested in knowing what happened. Anyway. It is pretty light for a marzen, just a few shades darker than a helles. The head was like microfoam and retention was fairly good. It has been almost two y...

Guatamala Mercedes - Gesha is really nice. I'm having it using the Hario v60 pourover. One of the best I have had from Pilot.

Re:

How do you find the Trois Pistoles compares to Westmalle Dubbel, Rochefort 8 or Chimay Blue? All different! :) Westmalle Dubbel and Rochefort 8 have a dry earthiness in common, but still two very different flavor profiles. Trois Pistoles is probably the closest thing to Chimay Bleue, and in ways it...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Drinking Anchor Liberty, Anchor Steam, SNPA and Pilsner Urquell over the last week. I compared fresh Rhyme & Reason, Cruiser Pale Ale, SNPA and Liberty Ale, and Liberty (bottled October 2015) came out the clear victor. It isn't as fruity as the Ontario pales, but it has a refreshing bitterness a...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

the more i think about it, the less likely i'll go grab a bottle on Friday. $40 for that. there aren't many bottles that i'd spend $40 on. some high end barrel-blended Bruery bottles. that's about it. so who knows... I'd rather buy 4 bottles of Rodenbach Vintage, or some Cuvée Rene when it is relea...

From experience, the sweetness decreases over the first couple years.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Just got back from QQ. 2013 Rodenbach vintage is out! I don't remember seeing this on any seasonal lists. Also quite a bit of Unibroue 17 Grand Reserve. I've always like Rodenbach reasonably fresh. It'll be nice comparing the 2013 with the 2012. For anybody that didn't already know, the vintage ref...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Viven Porter is a pleasant surprise. I haven't had many smoked porters, but the smoke is nice and the base beer is great.

How does Innocente's Charcoal Porter compare?

Re: GTA Coffee

Cuban trio back up on greenbeanery.ca I ordered a batch of a different cuban to try Daniel, grab it! I'll pick up some to roast myself. I haven't roasted anything since the summer, thanks to Pilot. The Mercedes Gesha is absolutely fantastic. I am getting some nice results using my Hario V60 pourover.
