Re: Grand River Plowman's Ale
Agreed. I hope it makes it out this way—it's one of my favourites from this brewery, and I'll happily pick up a bunch if it does.cratez wrote:One of the best, most sessionable, hop-forward ales in the province, if you ask me.

Aventinus ftw. But for summer drinking, Weihenstephaner is probably tops for me, although the Paulaner might edge it out for coming in six packs. Schneider Weisse is up there too. Really, I'd be happy with any of the three. Maybe I need to revisit Denisons, but the cans were all over the map when th...

Didn't their rejection of "Crazy Canuck" have to do with it being a perceived sports association/endorsement?

IMO, they kept a regular beer, changed the name, put it in a silly bottle, vintage dated it for the same year it expires, and are charging more. I don't care if it costs .02 cents more, it is a needless move. My guess is their last two seasonals in this format were more of a financial success than ...

It's a move in the right direction for a hefe to taste LESS estery? WTF? You guys just made the beer sound like its been tweaked for the worse. To clarify: - I like this version better than the canned version. Whether it's more or less of a hefe is not a debate I care to enter. It's entirely within...

I like how it's the 2011 vintage. And it's best before August 2011. Anyway, I found this a touch drier, more bitter, less banana-y and it had much better head retention than before. Which is to say, it had head retention. Overall I notice minor differences for the better. I picked up a can of Muskok...

Ugh. I much prefer the hefe in cans. It's much more convenient and not so much beer. I usually bounce between Denison's and Muskoka. Oh well. No more Muskoka for me. Agreed. I saw some of the Summer Weiss in Pickering when I went to grab more Double Hophead, so I grabbed a pair, and I'm much less e...

Not a super hoppy american IPA by any stretch, but a very tasty, moderately balanced, hoppy pale ale. That's the beer that I had. That’s the beer I had too. Last year and the year before that. An incredibly drinkable beer, maybe somewhere between an American Pale Ale and an American IPA—a hoppy ale...

Reminded me of Dead Elephant That's funny. I tweeted yesterday that it reminded me of a Duggans #9 or Dead Elephant. Tastes more like the sort of Tankhouse, Devil's Pale Ale, Cameron's Auburn, Hoptical Illusion Ontario take on a Pale Ale/IPA whereas before it was a really tasty if somewhat meek Ame...

Anyone been yet? Stopped in here on a whim Saturday afternoon. It has a really weird vibe. The way the staff interact feels like something out of Kitchen Nightmares. It feels badly managed and the service, at least at the bar, while friendly, was pretty spotty. The decor reminds me of Sin and Redem...
