Oh, sure... I'm positive the wonderfully responsive LCBO people would jump at the chance to explain their decision-making process to us, and to gather empirical public input, especially for the higher craft-level niche market they're so avidly interested in serving.

I don't think anyone thinks they're any better Belgian, I would suggest that sometimes a sense of humour is not shared by all and might not come off to some people as it was intended. That's all. Let's not take this bubbly beer beverage too seriously now... No, no... I was just enjoying an arch lit...

Re: Style nazi...

People tend to equate the definition of Smoked beers with Rauchbiers, which is a bit like refering to every type of pasta with the term spaghetti. People might know what you mean, but it's just not right! (or calling any beer a lager, which requires a specific processing technique). For a true Rauc...

Keep those American IPA's from getting in. Hops will ruin everything. Canadians will have too much fun.

Let's talk about Cameron's!

Just for fun, what do you think are your favorite Cameron ales, and in which order would you suggest people try them?

I intend to try these under-recognized beers while working around the house next month.

I'd be more tempted to show radical brewing styles, to show that there's more to beer then what's out on the beer store shelves: 1 - La Trappe Dubbel (cheesecake!) 2 - Schrlenkerla (SP?) Weissbier Dunkel (smoked!) 3 - Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (US beers can be good) 4 - Fuller's London Porter (theres ...

I am constantly amazing at how many people I recommend Denisons too LOVE it, when they are normally Keiths or Canadian drinkers. Jeremy (for those interested) speaks of the Denisons Weisse, as opposed to the Dunkel - both are wonderful though the Weisse is deemed world-class and in that sense the m...

The Newbie Sixer - Your Picks !

What, if any, Ontario (-ish) beers would you put together to 'gift' a completely beer-newbie friend who needed a little edgimicashun? Here's my idea for a six: Wellington County Dark Creemore Springs Lager Tankhouse Pale Ale Hockley Dark Steam Whistle Sgt. Majors IPA (just for fun) This shows a fair...

That's interesting Perry. So bar owners are deliberately selecting merchandise not based on its merit for thousands of customers, but based on getting frivolous perks for themselves? Yet doesn't a happier customer translate into repeat business? Seems short-sighted and cynical, however other places ...

It would be great if they accomplish it all and Tankhouse remains the brilliant Pale that it is. At which point, there will be some awfully tempting offers to 'Creemore' the deal over to some Conglomerate. Speaking of Creemore Springs being sold, that Lager is still a might tasty beer so far! Now if...

WTH? The subject is about pouring/sediment, etc. If you're both serious, why are you following the thread if you're not interested in it? Because often if a person doesn't stick their oar in with some opinion, they have to stick their oar in dismissing the conversation. There's little difference, i...

Those two last examples are real valid, Gary, especially since Orval is already such a (beautiful) freak among beers, with its bacteria-induced Brett characteristics. Enough funky complexity already. The Tripel you mention is no slouch either, extremely bright, complex and flavorful without any murk...

Correct. you can't lump in a 'Steinbier' either! And forget Raftman. Rauchbier is definitely a taste to aquire, it is really like tasting smoked meat for the first time and nor knowing what to make of it. My reli's say you have to put back a FEW in a sitting before it will ever 'taste right"! N...
