If the condo is at Blue, you aren't too far away from Thornbury to the west. Places of note there are: The Dam Pub - phenomenal list of whiskies (500+); used to have Neustadt on tap but may not have any more Bridges Tavern - nice little pub overlooking the Mill Pond; small beer list that includes Cr...

And I'll be better organized next year - harvest bbq and inspirational beer on Saturday, brewday on Sunday.

We thought we should tell you that we are awaiting a response from Great Divide - with their blessing, we will do our best to bring in some of theirs beers as soon as possible. It might have to go through Consignment (that way the producer can get paid before shipping the product). I seem to rememb...

My gut says that you probably could organize an order and get takers for 60 cases, like we did for Great Divide. Any volunteers?

I had a great customer service experience with Beau's yesterday trying to order this for delivery in Ottawa. I had to ask around at work to meet their minimum order of 20 litres but managed to get enough interest in 30 minutes for 18 (!) growlers. That makes it easy to split the $25 delivery fee. Lo...

Talked to Phil at the brewery: - available in growlers only at the brewery; price was $18 or $21, probably includes growler deposit - only 600 litres available for growlers -> just over 300 growlers available - oaked, though not sure how. Screaming Beaver was oaked by using staves and not barrels (I...

You are allowed a maximum of 48 bottles per person. After 48 hours you are allowed 24 bottles duty free. Unless something has changed recently, this is incorrect. You're allowed to import 45L per person (24x355mL bottles are duty-free after 48 hours). I believe it varies by province. Into Ontario, ...

I also get the impression that they work their asses off. Steve Beauchesne always seems to pop up at Toronto beer events, and that's not a short drive from Vankleek Hill. Agreed. I've never seen him anything but exhausted and I've never seen him anything other than friendly and attentive. They are ...

Nice thing about living in Ottawa - full access to all Quebec and New York mustards. I've even found some guys who grow their own mustard seed and make their own mustards at home.

Don't know if it would work tastewise, but "viva la vida cocoa" while "eating a cheese called oka" has a nice ring to it.

It would be extremely cool if one of the Toronto breweries offered to brew and bottle the winning entry, a la Beaus and CABA. Maybe not realistic for this year, but something to consider for 2011.
