I just got out of my time machine and I can tell you that the beer reached its ultimate perfection at 3:36pm on November 13th 2006 For those who are interested in what style I've chosen to emulate, well let's just say Courage Imperial Russian Stout and be done with it. It will be 9% abv, with a hop...

Does this "big board" list all the beers along with the prices and the package sizes in which they are available? What about ABV and the brewing company name? Each beers logo is there along with the sizes available and each price. I can't remember about the ABV. I seldom pay attention to ...

Re: What's in a name?

Give our beer an edge -- TorStar Column ...But drinking beer is supposed to be fun, not an exercise in nobility. Micros are so nice and earnest it hurts. There's no edge there, no savvy — at least not yet. OCBA could give critical mass to a small trend. People always want 'different' and Macros hav...

Considering that The Beer Store is a monopoly, the beer wall works very well. It effectively prevents the consumer from trying any of the lesser known brands.Joe. Exactlly what I meant. Psychological manipulation at its most contrived. "We're not hiding ANY beers, just look! OK done looking no...

the giant BEER BOARD at the Beer Store

Just what were they thinking I wonder. Is this any proper way to present and market products? The Big Board is just hard to look at, and stands ten feet over your head. It provides a false sense of diverse options by crowding a lot of tiny displays together in a confusing way. I wonder if they just ...

I find I can hit a ceiling with my "hop tolerance" for a while.

Now, the Floris Honey was... florid and... honeyish. Very odd for me. Not exactly repulsive but hard to go 'wow' to, sort of sweet-perfumey frutiness.

I tried the Saison and found it alright -- to me it tasted more like a Trappist than a Lambic, a more bitter Fin du Monde. I can see myself enjoying it again. Half-e-Weizen was good, but not mind-blowing. But I have to say, that Floris honey thing was definitely a guilty pleasure, and I'll be buyin...

Ahh right, earthy/smokiness - earthy cues take me a bottle or two to get my palate around. They confuse me at first, I mean the earthy mushroomy or humus-y vegetal cues. Description words are all very approximate.

Give it time, you'll find worse.

I found at least some sourness of Chapeau steeled the fruit/sugar sweetness a bit. I'm not likely to buy it by the pallet, but for some tastes...

Sinha (lion) Stout - whatcha think?

I found it pretty interesting! Sweet stouts are a bit unusual for me... but I like the serious fullness of it and the chocolate/coffee malts, maybe a few mystery flavors I haven't figured out, a fruity aspect, some toffee.

I slid back two of them last night & am craving more. Ahh, good stout...

surprised to find that it has the Chapeau pineapple lambic despite what the LCBO website says. (All the inventory people need to be dragged out into the street and beaten....) So I'm enjoying this fine beverage as I type. No head to speak of. Definite, no bones about it, pineapple smell. If you're ...

De Croo, president of parliament's lower house

I'd say DeCroo showed a marked lack of tolerance for the sake of what was to be in effect a 'business' meeting imbued with diplomacy. You don't smoke cigarettes in front of athsmatics either, it's incompatible behavior at the particular moment.. "The visit ran into further trouble after Iran's ...
