Not as flavourful as I hoped it would be, personally. It's pleasant, but a little bit refined for my liking. Less robust, if you get my meaning. But hey, my favourite Scotch is Laphroaig and my favourite Canadian whiskey are Collingwood, Forty Creek, and Dark Horse. My favourite rums are Black Seal ...

I've long held the same thoughts as nickw and Belgian. The age 21 limit in some parts of the US is ridiculous. Why is alcohol the one thing you have to wait three years for? Minors can use cars and guns (?!?!) but when it comes to evil alcohol... tut tut, can't allow that. Fucked up Americans. :rol...

^How the hell did it win the Golden taps?---seriously, I'm not a hater but it's such an average product.... Social media. Most breweries don't have someone hammering golden taps into their 1000+ followers. That's why GLB and Beau are locking down so many awards. I mean what cask conditioned ale doe...

The saddest thing about that is that Harp is actually a fairly decent pale lager. Better than any American or Euro lager I've ever tried. They clearly needed to do something to reinvigorate the brand. I'm glad they reached into their history book v.s. just giving us a Guinness Lime. Well, it's not Q...

Yes, those ones. I absolutely love them too. They feel nice and substantial in the hand. I've been using glassware from a Libby set that my girlfriend gifted me. She found them while shopping for cheap bras during a Sears close-out sale. Set came with two differently shaped tulips, one nonic, a pint...

I've been using glassware from a Libby set that my girlfriend gifted me. She found them while shopping for cheap bras during a Sears close-out sale. Set came with two differently shaped tulips, one nonic, a pint (not nonic), a pils glass, and a weiss glass. Exactly what I use, with the addition of ...

DMS was my problem with Lug Tread. Cooked vegetables. I tried to be nice and say it was otherwise alright in my review, but that was back when I felt bad saying a small brewers beer wasn't good.

Rickards Red boasts the use of "brewers caramel" in its marketing, whatever that is.

spinrsx, they're thin but they're bullet-proof. I won't ask you to do it to yours, but they have videos of knocking over empty glasses on counters, and they bounce. The glass has some coating that I assumed was hype until I saw a sales rep smack two wine glasses (same thickness glass) together to a...

It's 10 dollars per glass, plus tax. They're sold in sets of two.

BJCP is always a good resource for stylistic guidelines. http://www.bjcp.org/2008styles/style06.php#1c Overall Impression: A clean, crisp, delicately balanced beer usually with very subtle fruit flavors and aromas. Subdued maltiness throughout leads to a pleasantly refreshing tang in the finish. Th...

Saphir is a German hop that can come across fruity. Well according to this it is derived from Perle: http://www.brew-dudes.com/galaxy-hops/660 Perle is a German hop and these tend not be fruity, so it shows the effects of a completely different region and climate. Interesting that one of the comment...

This thread makes me sad that Victory Prima Pils is no longer available at the LCBO. I did try Jever tonight and thought it was a winner. Prima Pils, while a great beer, isn't remotely within traditional pilsner guidelines (but I miss it too). I've read that Prima Pils is 44 IBU, I don't know if th...

I've been working through all the "old world" pilsners at the LCBO recently and trying to give them a good, critical drinking (taking notes etc.). I've done about 50 and some have been great and others... not so much. It really comes down to what you're looking for in a Pilsner. If you're...
