Picked up four Rochefort 8s at Queens Quay yesterday. The cashier joked with me: "you're just getting four? Most people come up with 12 or 24!" Great deal, though... hopefully shipments aren't too few and far between. (As an aside, I'm heading home to Winnipeg in a few weeks to visit. Cons...

Wonder how often the touchscreens will be given a good sanitizing wipe-down. Lord knows they'll need it.

Fair enough, but I've talked to them about why they changed, understand it, and respect their decisions.

Had a chat about the labeling at the Bellwoods store the other day. Anything with the new labels basically won't ever have bottling dates, but they have the bottling dates for all bottles listed on the price list at the store. Not a big deal at all.

No bottled on info for the new roman candles or hellwoods. Safe to assume they've abandoned freshness lableing. That sucks. I asked Bellwoods about this via Twitter this afternoon. They're going to be putting the bottling dates up on the board at the store shortly, and you're encouraged to ask when...

I'm drinking one right now. Not great, but not that bad. Definitely not full of sediment either.

That was my original thought, just wondered if there was more to it than that. (Great Lakes is closed today, but that could just be a decision they've made on their own.)

Brewery store holiday hours

I notice that Amsterdam is open today from 11am - 9pm, but Indie Ale House tweeted "Our retail store is CLOSED today by law. A very old, stupid law." Bellwoods' store is also closed.

What's the difference in those places -- how can one brewery store be open but another isn't allowed to be?

I was sort of wondering why I'd been hearing those "have your ID ready" pre-recorded messages a few times in the past week or so, when I can't remember ever hearing them before. Explains a lot.

Hop Circle, Centennial, and Brutal IPA all at King and Spadina right now. Did you see them? No Centennial by the time I went but at about 6pm- just tags and no beer. Did it sell out that quickly? Ren Picked up the Centennial... there were only four six packs when I walked in; guess they didn't have...

In short, my advice would be to throw some large heavy-duty ziplocks in your luggage and just make sure you have a few larger cushioning articles of clothing (jackets, towels, etc) with you.
