Re: Cask Days 2017

Some thoughts on Friday evening session: - I don't think the early access is worthwhile any longer. It used to be a very laid back hour but it was already rammed by 7:15 - the lounge ticket was worth it IMO. You could always get a seat and get away from the noise, and they provided a path to the re...

Re: Cask Days 2017

In the past they held back beer. Didn't do that this time. They've gone back and forth on this. This year there were about a dozen casks on the lists which were to be tapped on Saturday. However, I was able to get pours on Friday. I've been to the Saturday sessions before and it's always slim picki...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

At Saint-houblon: Le Bibloquet Mackroken Flower Scotch Ale I discovered Saint-Houblon last year - just a stone's throw south on Rue Saint-Denis from Saint-Bock. 24 (almost) exclusively Quebec micro taps (one lonely Beau's offering for variety); it's a less deep and less interesting menu overall than...

Re: LCBO Winter Release 2017

The Cuvee is not as sugary sweet as the Donker. I opened them both side by side As a big fan of potent and soulful malt-forward beers, there is plenty in the above list to get excited about :D I presume the Cuvee du Chateau is from Van Honsebrouck? Anyone know how this one compares to their Kasteel...

Re: LCBO Winter Release 2017

I'm happy to see Ten Fidy is returning. It's an incredible stout and the 355ml can makes it easy to enjoy all to yourself. They also stack up well in a cellar if you want to tuck a few away for a rainy day. Agreed. The price has gone up and I still have a few from last year, but I'll splurge and re...

Re: Ontario brewed Tripels...

New Limburg Tripel happens to be pouring at the original Bar Hop location. Still not as good as I remember it being when I first tried it from the source (though perhaps the nostalgia of drinking in an old school has coloured my opinion), but it remains a solid (and scarce) Ontario-brewed interpreta...

Re: LCBO Autumn Import / Halloween / Ontario Release 2017

Now that the fall release has finally started to trickle onto the shelves, does anyone have any visibility on the status of van de Keizer Rood? I'm anxious to try this one and the recent news about the return of the Blauw this winter has me thinking about this one again.

Re: LCBO Xmas Release 2017

No samual smiths winter warmer For the first time in, what, 20 or 25 years? WTF? Now that I think about it, I haven't really seen any Samuel Smith's beers in any 'BO for at least a few months, if not the better part of a year. The only Sam Smith product still in the LCBO database is their Organic A...

Re: LCBO Winter Release 2017

Also, any visibility on which Abbaye des Rocs beer will be available? I sort of just assumed the Grand Cru given the general theme of the release but it doesn't actually specify.

Re: Ontario brewed Tripels...

Sawdust City had a glorious tripel (11% but no boozy taste at all) called 11.05. I picked up some cans at their brewery in May, no idea if it's still in stock but damn, it was delicious. This is a collaboration with Nickel Brook. As best I know, they have alternated over the years which brewery the...

Where did you see this?

Tomas Morana responded to an email that I sent and told me that they will be releasing the list next Monday.

Re: Ontario brewed Tripels...

Folly's Kallipolis is another example of an Ontario brewed tripel (and quite a good one at that). Sadly, it's never been part of their bottle shop offerings and isn't available at all right now.
