Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

Belgian, check out Winners or Homesense. They often have lower range Riedel glassware at cheap prices.

Beer Fridge

Anyone want a free beer fridge? It would need to be collected within the next couple of days from a somewhere in downtown Toronto. Guy I know visiting from the States won it and doesn't want to haul it back home with him.

Why is is that when breweries attempt to design purpose specific glassware things always seem to go terribly, terribly wrong? The exception being the New Belgium glass. http://worldofbeer.wordpress.com/2011/12/15/gift-idea-6-new-belgiums-glass-that-gives/ *I would have just inserted the pic, but it ...

Clothes for little kids

An odd question, I know, but do any Ontario breweries carry logo-ed onesies for infants?

Or suck it up and help defray the cost of making one of Canada's best beer destinations even better.

I've got to reply to this one, Lackey. White Castle is "really bad" and "despicable," but you've been "a few times"???? :o  I also enjoyed the Indie burger. It's not about the bun or the toppings -- although I believe those changed Friday night -- but the delicious...

World Atlas of Beer and Cask Days

Unfortunately, the order wasn't placed early enough to get books for a World Atlas of Beer signing at Cask Days. However, if anyone would like one and will be at the Saturday afternoon session, let me know and I can bring copies with me. Signings can be personalized for you or as a gift, and the cos...

Tim Webb/World Atlas of Beer/Bar Hop - Oct 17

On October 17, from 5:00 - 9:00 pm, Tim and I will be hanging out at Bar Hop, selling and signing copies of the new World Atlas of Beer. This will be Tim's only appearance while he is in town, so if you'd like a copy signed by us both, this is your chance to get it. I'll also be signing copies at Ca...

Me and Jordan and Pete Brown

Another full day of TBW for one and all, no doubt, but if you feel like ending the day with some lively conversation and a few beers, plus nibbles, join me, Jordan and a no doubt jet-lagged Pete Brown at the Monk's Table tonight, beginning at 8:30. There will be books for sale and signing, we're jus...

A few thoughts on filtration/haze/etc. 1. IMO, German kellerbier (aka ungespundet, zwickel, etc.) works better than yeasty, dry-bodied ales because lagers take to sulphur better than do ales; 2. Sweet-bodied ales, on the other hand, are still able to take a bit of yeasty bite because they have that ...

This really couldn't be more simple. If a place doesn't post what they are pouring and how much of it they are pouring and what it costs, don't patronize it. If you feel strongly about it, let them know, not necessarily at that precise moment, but through their website or by calling the manager midd...
