Brooklyn Oktoberfest (decent 5% pacer)
Ebulum Elderberry Black Ale (quite tasty, perfect with dinner)
Bare Naked Ladies Chocolate Stout (wow- is there a more intensely chocolate beer out there?)
Nogne o Porter (so delicious I'm tempted to drive back to Aurora and scoop up the remaining 20 bottles!)

[They all seem to have an acrid yeasty taste that speaks of Belgium/Northern France, yes, but in a way I find unappealing.]

Gary --Exactly what I was trying to get at in my comments (above) on their oktoberfest; if that's common to their other beers too, well then YUCK!

I've been getting into my Nognes over the last few days and loving them, including the two Captains. However, my Two Captains was full of floaties / debris and had a thick sludgey sediment at the bottom of the bottle (Fortunately, it still tasted great!). My first thought was it was bottle condition...

Ended up here by chance last evening, as it is close to the Elgin theatre. I decided to give the 6% oktoberfest ("The Munich") a shot. Well, I didn't like it. Starting with the aroma I got a whiff of something spicy that reminded me of perhaps a Belgian / witbier (yeast?) . Then as I drank...

Correction: I should have said LCBO (rather than Ontario market), though Russian Gun did slip my mind, probably due to the fact it's NEVER available in my neck of the woods.

I think Tempest's performance on RB thus far explains a lot, in terms of our differing perceptions of this beer; overall percentile is 98, which suggests it's a damn fine beer in general, but as an imp stout it's only 73 percentile. In the Ontario market I can only think of Wellington as a direct co...

Actually I emailed my original post to the LCBO site; they replied with a form answer, basically saying that singles need to have a special label over the cap to ensure product integity. Of course, this a bunch of bureaucrap from my perspective.

...had a "singles issue" at Yonge and Highway 7 LCbo yesterday; while I didn't see an actual singles bin, there were several singles of Boneshaker and Tankhouse sitting on the shelves. So I grabbed two boneshakers to go with my Rogue pumpkin and went to the cash. As soon as I mentioned to ...

Just tried a bottle for the first time last evening....absolutely delicious...don't know how the body / mouthfeel could be mucher thicker...it wasn't as bitter as the info on the label suggested, nor did the 9%alcohol show in a harsh or assertive way (unlike the current Fullers Vintage at 8.5%), so ...

LOL --- I should have looked more carefully at a map! We ended up parking at the indoor lot on the Esplanade at Church, eating and pinting at Cest What? and walking all of 10 minutes to Massey. Beerbistro would have been easy too, and Beer Academy was on the way up Victoria even closer to Massey; wh...

Thanks for the suggestions. The only one I had thought of was Beerbistro,
which would be my preference, but I suspect my wife would prefer something closer to Massey.

The North American pallette is totally skewed towards sweet---look at breakfast cereals, fast food, condiments, and beverages like pop, coolers etc. So anything with a noticably bitter taste / aftertaste will likely deemed foreign and unpleasant by most people. I think some (most?) bartowellers unde...
