Re: Trafalgar ESB, Chocolate Orange Porter, Mighty Oak
Some decent reviews by Jordan: http://saintjohnswort.ca/revisit-trafalgar-ales-meads/ .... Assuming the Black Label series is the best-intentioned stuff they offer (and JSJ suggests possibly hand bottled?), one might think they ought to be pretty immaculately presented and made with the brewer's be...

I'm not sure it's all that remarkable. They've never had to do business up here before. I'm sure it'll be smoother on the second batch.Blasphomet wrote:I just find it funny that the Canadian shipment... to the wonderful LCBO... is the one that got messed up.

Some decent reviews by Jordan: http://saintjohnswort.ca/revisit-trafalgar-ales-meads/ I'd say there's a lot of common beer names when you look at different markets, but they did reuse a few. Even the name of the series is a bit nostalgic: http://www.thebeerstore.ca/beers/black-label But lawsuits ar...

Re: Toronto: "Craft Beer Capital of the World"?
It's not possible. We would need to have started caring about it about a decade and a half ago if we wanted a shot at it. When they announced the initiative, I sent both councillors Perks and Layton an email saying that Craft Beer Capital of the world was probably out of reach and something of a non...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
Probably not. Long Dark Voyage to Uranus was priced at the same amount and it went very quickly. Also, I don't think that Girl Pants is as mediocre as you think it is. Should be interesting. I actually didn't say Girl Pants is mediocre. I've tried two distinctly different versions of it in this las...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
Agreed on all points except that 6-packs of outstanding beers (like most of the Sierra Nevada lineup) can still be had for $10 or less in the States, a key difference that can't be overlooked. But yes, weak and overpriced offerings can be found anywhere and are not unique to Ontario. You're right. ...

Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread
Anyone else calling complete bullshit on the LCBO's tale that the Sierra Nevada was actually bottled in March, and not Best Before March despite that the bottle clearly says best before March? :D No, because I saw them bottling the second order when I visited in late April. It was bottled in March.

Re: Summerhill Growler/Craft Beer Destination Store
Hasn't it already been announced they're only going to be able to list what TBS or LCBO have? I can't remember that specifically, but they did say the prices had to be the same in the grocery stores as everywhere else, which is only really possible with that limitation. Hopefully the grocery chains...

Re: Build Bigger LCBO Stores
I think that part of the selection process could be managed by changing the selection of inventory from being under the purview of the local store manager to a centralized planning office that would be able to better manage inventory across the entire chain. In fact, that is more or less the way it...

Re: LCBO Summer Craft Beer Release 2015
Media Tasting was yesterday. Tank 7 is just as good as it's meant to be, but the four pack sizing is sort of curious. I don't think it'll bother beer nerds, but it might put off the amateurs. More for us, says I. Wild Ninkasi is ... I don't know whether I like it or hate it. You know that odd potti...
