Quite the match between the host nation squad and Uruguay. The red card against the South Africa keeper was pretty harsh. The squad now has a real big problem advancing to the 1/4's. I was surprised to see their fans heading for the exits so quickly, as soon as defeat was a certainty. I'm betting on...

...To each their own, this world cup is made for aggravating me and my pool picks! Stupid Switzerland and their underdog victories! I'd like to have a word with New Zealand too!!!! (Ironically the pool is making me cheer against teams I would likely have been cheering on without otherwise having a ...

... As for the Spain v Swiss game; what a great advert for footie!! Still, people would find fault that there was only 1 goal in the game .. Tblue, I agree. What an upset! But I do think that going forward a number of squads - like N. Korea, Switzerland, Japan, New Zealand- will never make it...

...Professional soccer is pathetic. Slow, long, boring, low scoring, HUGE field, wacky time keeping, no allowed contact, players who fall over dead at the slightest contact then get carted off by stretcher and then suddenly back on the field two minutes later like nothing happened just to draw a pe...

Are you being serious, or am I missing something? Resting while drinking is a terrific combo. :)

It used to be open on Sunday's, patio open, beers flowing; no one turned up, so they were losing money. Unless a decent sized crowd turn out each and every Sunday then it's not worthwhile opening just on the off chance a couple of people want a drink. I think part of the problem with Sundays at Vol...

Oh geez, I forgot about that character! How could I?! From IMDB: "Rufus: I'm telling you, man, this ceremony is a big mistake. Cardinal Glick: The Catholic Church does not make mistakes. Rufus: Please. What about the Church's silent consent to the slave trade? Bethany: And its platform of nonin...

Hmm...I'm aware of Jiminy Glick, and Samuel Glick. Fictional characters, of course. But I don't know Cardinal Glick. Does he drink beer?

Volo - wow!

Just a note of praise for Volo. My buddies and I get together regularly, and we meet up at a pub. Both as a relative newbie to micro/craft beer and as someone who lived in T.O. and now lives in the suburban wasteland, it's been fun for me to take my Toronto friends to places in the city that they've...

Thanks guys. I've checked out a lot of places from your posts. Seems like the challenge is to find good beer and a good menu/kitchen in the same place (for the people with me who don't share my growing passion for micro beers!).

Waterloo recommends?

Heading to Waterloo this weekend. Any recommended pubs for craft brews?

I did a keyword search in this forum, got some hits, but couldn't read the posts. Got an "access denied" message. :(

Beer Podcasts?

For those of you who never tire of beer discussions, have you subscribed to any of the beer podcasts on iTunes? There are at least 6, including The Beer Report, Craft Beer Radio, and Speaking of Beers.

Any faves?
