Re: Labatt buys Millstreet

Stopped at my local L on the way home from work yesterday for some weekend provisions and there was a Mill St. rep sampling 100th Meridian and Cobblestone. Maybe these beers are in line to be pushed by the powers-that-be at Labatt/InBev.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Last night at Bar Hop (the original): Nickel Brook x Sawdust City 11.05 (Imperial Saison w/ citrus) Cameron's Dry-Hopped Tripel Sawdust City x Bar Hop The Blood of Cthulhu (Imperial Stout w/ sour cherries, cranberries and raspberries) I thought the tripel and Blood of Cthulhu were excellent. The imp...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Whoever took the "over" on how long 3 Minutes to Midnight would last was correct. I noticed yesterday that it was still listed online as being in their bottle shop. I didn't get a chance to stop by last Friday or over the weekend but took an extended walk over on my lunch (great day for a ...

Collective Arts & Nickel Brook Open House

I'm not able to attend but for anyone who might be interested, Collective Arts and Nickel Brook are having an open house at their new shared space in Hamilton. From the Collective Arts web site: Open House Sat Nov 14 12:00 pm - 12:00 am Kick back with some cold ones at the most historic beer buildin...

Pico - The Keurig of Craft Beer

A friend of mine sent me this article describing a home-brewing machine:

While I'm skeptical of the quality of the output, it is an interesting concept.

Re: Cask Days 2015

Least fav was a bitter from QC that I've totally forgotten everything about, besides the taste unfortunately. Was it Dunham's ESB with Poplar shoots? Actually spat out this into the bucket. A friend of mine tried this and just the smell was enough to turn me off. Not a great showing by Dunham - I a...

Re: Cask Days 2015

They stopped serving Four Winds Nectarous sometime between about 9 and 11 (I had recommended to a friend after I'd had my share -- was my first cask pre-admission, and was given a double pour for the price of one token -- sorry, others!), and the Smog Rocket was no longer pouring either. Had tried ...

Re: Cask Days 2015

I wish there was more transparency around how the decision to stop pouring a particular cask was made. I was at Session 3 and it seemed that very little was left by the end of the session. This left me wondering if all the casks that were no longer available had actually run dry, or if a decision wa...

I was there around 12:15 and there was no line. The cashier said there was a small line when they opened at 11 and that she was expecting some more volume through the lunch hour and then another surge after work.

I hear ya. My buddies and I were recently musing about a resource constraint analysis - I'm not sure if time or my sobriety level will be the scarce resource that runs out first!

Re: Cask Days 2015

Looks like the UK line up has finally been disclosed. I'm happy to see Smog Rocket return - I had it towards the end of my session last year and really enjoyed it but by then my faculties were greatly diminished. Will make a point to try it earlier on this time!

Re: LCBO Winter craft beer release 2015

Having Celebrator is just amazing on top of things. We now have Rochefort 10 and St. Bernardus Abt 12 as regular listings, and they would have each been a heavy weight on previous year's Winter releases. Hopefully the smaller seasonal releases will translate to more and more regular listing of clas...

Re: Labatt buys Millstreet

Beau's throwing shade at it all kind of annoyed me, though. pretty comical coming from a company that makes even worse beer. Beau's did what? He's probably referring to this news release on Beau's web site where they declare themselves the largest Canadian craft producer of organic beer following M...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I think I will make an effort to get out to Bellwoods next Friday and pick up some Lambda (workload permitting and assuming they don't sell out too fast). I'm not deterred by a little sweetness - it works fine with this style. Kasteel Donker is possibly the sweetest...
