Anyone have some bottles of the Twisted Thistle kicking around from the Belhaven gift pack? Just noticed there are two different versions of the beer. Im wondering if the gift pack has the euro version that is 5.3%, compared to the US version that is 6.1%. I noticed a big different in these recent ...

I am drinking one of these right now and I am pretty much on the same page as you. The aroma just as I opened the can was alright but with the first sip it went in a completely different direction. It is plenty bitter but not really in a good way. Definitely a one and done.

I feared the worst while reading these posts, but I've had two bottles that I've opened and haven't had any trouble at all. No knives, no acetylene torches and no gimmicks. Just a plain old bottle opener (you know the old ones with the can piercer on the other end) and pry away. Couldn't have spent...

It is also worth mentioning that Tilt is a really nice brew. A light and refreshing wheat beer with plenty of hops and just the right amount wheaty tartness. At 4.4% it was a great beer to accompany the event. I am not sure how long it will be available but since it is a one off it is worth seeking ...

I had a great time. I was planning on quitting this crawl and heading to Volo after 8 but I was having so much fun I stayed right through to the end. Thanks to KBC and 3030 for the hospitality. If you've not checked out 3030 before it is worth the trip! Lots of great taps and six pinball machines. T...

I am not sure my original post can be seen as having a hissy fit but everyone is open to their own interpretation. edit... I wrote a bunch more but realized it sounded like a hissy fit so I deleted it. If Mark and I disagree then I would much rather discuss it at a pub over a couple beers than bicke...

After reading the link shared by Cass and looking over some of the recent seasonal releases I see that some of the releases have a focus on price and some do not. When the price is mentioned in the submittal info the products that hit the shelves seem to reflect it and for some ( like this fall rele...

Re: the only war on price is the moderation of demand.

1) beer prices have been getting retarded, especially since bars here also have to add markup over retail AND tax AND tip. Super ghey, Ontario!! 2) some products have been the same price forever so upward movement is inevitable. For those products. Not all. 3) drinking less is healthy. You can prob...

Beer prices

It is great that there are so many fantastic beer options available to us. There seems to be a steady climb in pricing that far outpaces the standard rate of inflation. I was just reading about the upcoming fall release and see only one beer for under $4 ( and even that is only by a nickel ). Not to...

I got into better beer over a decade ago and quit smoking eight years ago. I used to enjoy mostly over the top hops or beers that had powerful flavors. Now I still enjoy those but I can appreciate the more delicate nuances of a good lager or a nice mild much better than I used to. When I smoked I ne...

New Store @ Eglington & Lloyd Manor

There is a new LCBO at Eglington and Lloyd Manor ( between Kipling and Islington ). A pretty decent beer selection. They didn't seem to have any special release stuff but had all the standard issue brews most of us might be looking for. The nice thing is that the entire beer section is a giant walk ...

If you can, try Schnitzerbrau. It is not at the LCBO but it is at select TBS locations ( or will be soon ) or you can get it from http://thehealthywineagent.com Completely gluten free and has a nice Weiss-y flavour even if the malt profile is non existent.

I am always happy to get a deal when I can but it is sad to see the first offerings from two new breweries on the discount rack. I hope both brewers will not suffer too much from this. I haven't tried either. I just don't buy very many larger bottles of 10% beer. I thought it was ambitious that both...

Schnitzerbrau revisited

Schnitzer Brau Organic and Gluten Free An acquaintance who is getting into a beer and wine importing business is bringing This one to us. I was told it will at select The Beer Store locations soon. It's a different sort of beer, made from millet rather than sorghum like many gluten free beers. It h...
