Re: Toboggan Brewing Co., London
It's my understanding that JBR's popularity was waning, and since it's hard to keep a business going when you essentially have no business before 9 PM*, Mike thought it was time for a change. Their own beer isn't cheap ($7 for a howler, $12 for a growler plus deposit on either; don't know what it is...

Re: Miller Coors being sued because Blue Moon is marketed as a craft beer
The beer certainly tastes no different if they're owned by one of the big guys. But I would still go more often for a truly independent craft beer because I don't like AB Inbev et. al.'s anti-competitive practices (e.g. TBS and LCBO interference). On top of this, the only reason they're trying anyt...

Re: Miller Coors being sued because Blue Moon is marketed as a craft beer
I'm of of mixed feelings though -- does Goose Island make any less impressive beers because they are owned by Anheuser-Busch? Is Creemore worse because it is owned by Molson-Coors? I don't think however they would be hurt to simply state their ownership on their labels. If their "crafty"-...

Re: Trafalgar ESB, Chocolate Orange Porter, Mighty Oak
Yeah I keep hoping Kisheppi will start making the Scotch Irish beers again but I wonder how they'd hold up compared to what's available now? As far as infection from Trafalgar, I never had one, but there were too many stories of those who did. However, I think they've been brewing the Black Creek be...

Re: Toboggan Brewing Co., London
I just came back from buying a "howler" (never heard that term before) of IPA, but I've got dodgeball later so I haven't opened it yet. They currently have an IPA, blonde and an amber in the retail store. Don't expect things to be adventurous at first, as I understand it, Mike is playing i...

Re: Welcome to the new Forum!
Yeah, I was playing around with the rank functionality, which we didn't have with the old board. Haven't really given it much thought so made up some arbitrary titles. But it would probably be fun to put more in place, so if anyone has any ideas please post them up! Can you have custom ranks/titles...

Re: An idea whose time has(n't) come?
It'll depend on the time of year, time of day and whether there's an umbrella (don't most patios have umbrellas?), but the amount of 3MBT produced per min must be measurable. I see they haven't done that, and have instead gone with the non-blinded taste test. Maybe there's something to it (if you le...

Re: Welcome to the new Forum!
By my count we have 19 new members already since the upgrade, although two of them look like spammers. I kinda doubt people in Estonia or the Cook Islands care about the Ontario beer scene. That's terrific! The place could use the fresh blood. I had noticed the volume of posts had decreased a lot o...

Ontario hates anyone succeeding, apparently... It's more likely that it's Molbatts who doesn't want others succeeding and that they got the regulation put in place. When the AGCO doesn't even know why the rule is there and it hampers smaller breweries from growing, I think it's fair to assume it wa...
