Re: Summerhill Growler/Craft Beer Destination Store

Counter-pressure growler fill stations are shown in the presentation. Do we know if they will actually be used or was that an overly ambitious screen capture? I hate that I was right and didn't see it happening this soon, but I saw the contracture in the number of craft beer brands available at the ...

Prague and Plzen

I'm headed to the Czech Republic in August, so I thought I'd start a thread for Prague and Plzen, as I can only see scattered comments about those cities here on BT and not a dedicated thread. The amount of beery adventures in Prague seem endless and outstrip the week or so I'll have there, so any r...

Re: Toboggan Brewing Co., London

JBR's just got some potentially unflattering attention in an online Vice editorial about race relations in London, Ontario (link below). In one section the author name drops JBR as a bar in London some associate with "ill treatment of black people". No sources, references or even anecdotal...

If you don't dig lagers as a category, that's cool. Honestly, though, good, flavourful lagers are far more rare and harder to brew than most ales and thus are a little underrepresented in our market. I love well made lagers, so this is a definite "try" for me. Edit: Would understand cring...

Posted in another thread a little about ABV, but worth repeating. This place is great. My wife and I had different burgers and both were super flavourful and cooked perfectly. I had the truffle fries, which were crisp and pretty rich, while my wife had the, uh artisanal? tater tots, which were also ...

Seasonal IPA releases it is, then. I think that needs a thread entirely it's own (could include our locals, obviously and duh.) That's a phenomenal idea. I know there are a few new release threads in other US sites that you can reference and Ontario Beer Network new on shelves. However, a centraliz...

In terms of IPA's I pretty much stick to what I see tweeted out as a new arrivals, seasonals I know that are coming out and growler fills. I stay away from random IPA's I don't recognize or can't date on that info. I probably miss out on a few things, but i'm disappointed less. That said, I broke my...

So much new stuff down in Buffalo. Premiere Gourmet has tweeted out most of the new stuff available in the last week or so. No more bottles of Perennial 17, Parabola or KBS anywhere in Buffalo, but didn't expect there to be. Premiere still had bottles of Pizza Boy Golden Sour (for $37) and bottles o...

I totally agree that it's not that hard to do in theory. I just doubt it will ever happen because even the simplest things cannot get done within the bureaucratic nightmare that is the LCBO. It's like saying "I don't understand why we can't have a completely private liquor retail system. Alber...

I can't see any LCBO investing the money or space to put in a growler fill station, even in the proposed retrofitted "boutique" stores. And how would they manage the growlers themselves? I'm assuming you would need to purchase a LCBO brand growler. It seems like it would be an enormous he...

I swear I saw a pre-filled growler of something at the Dundurn LCBO in Hamilton a couple of months ago. I can't remember what exactly is was, but I seem to recall it being something from Hockley or Lake of Bays that was already available in a smaller format. I can't see any LCBO investing the money ...

The brewer is wild beer co., and the ninkasi is the beer name "Ninkasi" - isn't that a brewery not a beer? (Meant to be a criticism of the LCBO press release, not anyone here). Does anyone know which Ninkasi? Had a few things from Wild Beer - always decent and above average. Looking forwa...

When down in Buffalo it's pretty great to take away a bottle of something from Blue Monk you missed/has long ago sold out at Premiere. Especially if it's high abv and you are driving. I'd like the opportunity to do the same when in TO.
