PeenSteen posted that Hennepin sixes are coming to the LCBO; no reason to doubt that. Completely agree that Ommegang in Ontario seems like a no-brainer. where did PeenSteen say this? In the 'Coming Soon to the LCBO' thread, back in November: http://www.bartowel.com/board/viewtopic.php?p=112632#1126...

Ommegang has actually been at the LCBO once or twice before--the regular Ommegang and Hennepin, IIRC--but that's going back more than 10 years ago.

If anyone doesn't like the Cuvee van de Keizer now, I'm inclined to suggest that they return any other bottles.-- this beer doesn't really age well, even though everything suggests it should. That's my $0.02. OK. Denver Dave shared a 6-year-old bottle that was a lot more balanced and complex than a...

If anyone doesn't like the Cuvee van de Keizer now, I'm inclined to suggest that they return any other bottles. I have some approaching six years old; they're still very sweet, very rich, and with very little carbonation. I like them, but they're dangerously close to being cloying. IMO, Gouden Carol...

Excellent. Any word on bottle size? If R+R have taken over, maybe we'll see a change from the small bottles and I can blitz my remaining--and aging--stock of 750s from the SAQ.

at that price, Im thinking 6 pack. Either that or the price is incorrect.
Six pack. I already saw a bunch at Summerhill, though stock is down to a few. LCBO.com lists it at $13.60, though.

if that's the blue one, then man, its a great beer. cellars well i.e. HOARD AWAY Very good beer, but not a great candidate for long-term aging in my experience, even though it everything suggests it should be. I still have 6-8 bottles from a few years back (2007) and they're fine but I'd rather hav...

Pilsener malt + hops + expressive yeast = saison. Sheesh, nobody's tried Saison Dupont? Nobody likes it? Enough with the wheat, enough with the damn spices already. [/rant]

Oude gueuze will keep almost indefinitely, but I think some initial cellaring would particularly benefit Cuvee Rene. Traditionally, newly bottled oude gueuze is cellared for a period of months or longer before being released for sale. Cuvee Rene is out the door very quickly--within weeks, or even le...

Interesting, but I wouldn't jump to such broad conclusions. Have you read Yvan de Baets' essay on the history of saison in Phil Markowski's 'Farmhouse Ales'? He references Lacambre but notes that you shouldn't equate his saison de Liege (the one with a lot of wheat, spelt and oats) with saison in ge...

Toronto Life Article

I sometimes find Toronto Life to be--what's the word, cloying?--but I think this snapshot of the Ontario craft beer scene hits the mark:
