Re: beerbistro

I spent a few hours there after a Slowdive concert at Massey Hall a couple of weeks back. It was only my second time there in five years, although previous to that I was a fairly regular patron. Admittedly, I've had a lot of new beers in those five years, so the menu seemed less exciting to me than ...

Beer from the Ukraine is not renowned for its quality. Presented without further comment. :D

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Collective Arts IPA No 4. First time for this one. Very impressive. I would rank it right beside, perhaps slightly ahead of Great Lakes Karma Citra as the best Ontario IPA I've had since returning to Canada a few months ago.

A Fuller's Vintage Ale 2017. I used to get half a dozen of these every year before missing several years. It's nice to have it back.

Nickel Brook Bolshevik Bastard RIS from a Stone Imperial Russian Stout glass. I really like this one, although that's true of most in this style.

Re: Changing tastes...

I'm responding to my own thread, but one more thought occurred to me. While in Canada, Kostritzer was the only Schwarzbier I'd tried and I was like...well...ok...fine. In Asia, I retried Kostritzer on numerous occasions. I also tried about fifteen others and developed a real appreciation for the sty...

Re: Changing tastes...

I can totally relate regarding the Porters/Stouts. Unless it's Imperial or so full bodied I can float a horseshoe in it, I tend to stay away.

I've been drinking a fair amount of the Karma Citra since returning to Canada and must say I consider it exceptional. One of the best IPA's I've had from Ontario

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Well, it's 2:00PM, so go big or go home. For me it's the 750ml cork and cage bottle of Gouden Carolus Cuvee Van De Keizer from a recently purchased Gouden Carolus glass. Quite creamy, moderately sweet, and the 11% percent is well disguised. I've always enjoyed the Gouden Carolus line, particularly H...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Hey Belgian, I would say a little smoother and maybe more dark fruit taste than originally.

I read somewhere that fifteen years is the sweet spot, but mine won't last that long.

Changing tastes...

One thing I enjoy about this hobby of ours is that it's a constantly evolving process. Several years ago I didn't enjoy and stayed away from styles such as Saison and Flanders Ales. However, in the last year or so I've retried Fantome Saison, Duchesse De Bourgogne, Rodenbach Grand Cru, Goudenband, a...

The Gouden Carolus has also arrived at my local store in Belleville. I would say there is probably fifty bottles.
