Re: Recruiting back to the Bar Towel

How about that? It seems to be working!

Now we just need someone to step up with a crazy rant about something like pull tabs, or unreadable expiry dates, or skinny jeans, or something to get the crowd all fired up!

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Moving to short cans for some brands too. I have to wonder if we'll see more short can offerings from breweries to keep price points down amidst increasing costs, definitely a way to reduce sticker shock since I imagine most people don't do a cost per ml calculation when they're staring at the pric...

Re: Pedal Pubs in Toronto

Looks like we're getting drinking in TO parks this summer afterall: https://www.blogto.com/city/2023/05/toronto-allow-drinking-parks-summer-theres-catch/ For the click adverse, the "catch" (wouldn't be BlogTO without a little clickbait) is that it will only be allowed in wards whose counc...

Re: Recruiting back to the Bar Towel

There's a Cask Social tomorrow at C'est What. If you have access to a Go train (or is it Via from where you are?), it might just scratch your itch. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScNDqviu_Rn1zA0HhNd3vaOcRuJAAVof9wWJ6di6UU5BF-UtA/viewform Unfortunately I have another engagement and can't at...

Re: Best canned "lawnmower" beer?

Maybe a little late to the party here….. I love this revisiting a decade later stuff. Not out of nostalgia, but what we have learned and how we and the options have changed. Good fun. FWIW, I'm up voting Great Lakes Lager. BTW - don't mow your lawn, let it grow and have the butterflies take over, t...

Counterpoint. Why don't more beers bars open earlier? Especially ones that could be serving lunch.

Re: Kensington Brewing Company

Hopefully the Kensington location becomes something again, nice to have a brewery to visit down there. Well, there is Burdock and Collective Arts not far away. Speaking of which, I haven't been to the new Burdock yet. Do they, or will they have a patio? It's hard to see where they would have space....

Re: Pine

More thanks to y'all. Interesting that the Fat Tug description on the Driftwood web site does not mention pine: Brewed with the hop aficionado in mind, Fat Tug is a Northwest-style India Pale Ale with an intense hop profile featuring notes of grapefruit, mango, melon and passionfruit. Sufficient ma...

Re: Pine

As for a bit of piney, I would also suggest Fat Tug from Howe Sound. It shows up here in Ontario consistently and is a pretty good example of what you are looking for. Fat Tug is from Driftwood, but it is definitely a great example of a piney west coast IPA. My bad. You are correct. Given how much ...

Re: Left Field Brewery

I have a pretty equal hatred for slavery, religion and pro-sports, so Left Field's branding shtick has never sat well with me. However, I love their beer and everyone I have ever met from there has been super nice, so I wish them the best with their expansion and will definitely patronize the new lo...

Re: Pine

I'm going to shout out for Lone Pine as a great beer. Love it. But, I don't really catch that much of a piney flavour. Perhaps it is imprinted on the mind due to the name. Still, if you can find it go buy some and enjoy. Karma Simcoe this year is disappointing me. I understand what they are going fo...

Re: Las Vegas

So, reporting back here. Brew Dog was a disappointment. The rooftop is nice, but after dark it was a bit too cool to enjoy. It would likely have been great during the day. They do have some small fire pit type things, but they were nowhere near the BTUs of even small patio heaters. The beer list was...

Re: Las Vegas

Will be in Vegas next week. First time in five years. I'm open to suggestions, but I will have a well travelled local beer geek to babysit me. 8) One place another contact has steered me toward is the local Brew Dog location. Looks kind of neat, even if it is probably over the top corporate. Anybody...
