Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

AYINGER

Don't count on that price. I was Ayinger's agent for over 10 years and I cannot believe it will sell at that price. The LCBO will often post items at prices that are not real and this one is just not real.

CASE WEIGHT

Yes, the maximum acceptable case weight is 18.9 KG. Large format beers and sparkling wines will exceed this limit. They don't want employees to hurt themselves lifting such heavy cases.

DE RANKE AND LAMBICS

We are submitting an order to the LCBO next week for De Ranke Cuvee and Kriek as well as the XX Bitter and we'll bring in anything else from De Ranke that someone might be interested in. Again, please e-mail us directly at espritagencies@sympatico.ca.

We were the agents for both DFH and VICTORY and were of course saddened by their decision to withdraw from the Ontario market. Domestic demand and too many hassles dealing with Ontario (spraying each layer on a pallet with non-skid adhesive as shrink wrap was not good enough to prevent movement, pen...

LAMBIC

Liefmans is not a producer of lambic beers. They produce sour brown ales generally referred to as Oude Bruin. We periodically bring in their Goudenband. We also regularly bring in De Ranke's Cuvee and Kriek both of which are Oude Bruins blended with Girardin lambic. We have just received our first s...

DE RANKE

DE RANKE is now a core product for us. We will bring in the Kriek and Cuvee 3 times each year as well as any of their other beers people are interested in (right now XX BITTER is on the horizon). Visit their website and let me know if anything interests you. The current orders (sold out) are priced ...

FYI, we just received a new shipment of Achel Extra and it's going through LCBO lab. It'll be about $75 for 6 x 750ml.

BEER OF THE YEAR

I had a pleasant surprise when I picked up The Star today...Josh Rubin selected Rochefort 10 as his beer of the year in Ontario. We're happy to have been able to bring this great brew to Ontario and hope that you all will continue to support Rochefort 8 on the General List.

Some of you may recall that when we first brought in Westy 12a number of years ago, Volo had a similar blind tasting which I believe about 40 people paid to attend. Their list also included Achel Extra and Chimay Blue but obviously none of the homebrews. In that tasting the Achel Extra was #1 and We...

CHIMAYGRANDE RESERVE MAGNUMS

Forget the champagne, what better way to bring in the New Year than with a vintage dated (2013) magnum (1500ml) of an incredible, dark, strong (9%) Trappist Ale. These can also be cellared almost indefinitely. The oldest I have ever had in Belgium was 23 years old. Tasted more like Port or Madeira t...

What JProulx means is that there are still several HISTORIC ALES FROM SCOTLAND gift packs containing a bottle of KELPIE. Bought some myself yesterday as I needed samples and it's cheaper to buy the pack than arrange for shipment from Scotland.

When store people don't know what you're talking about, how about giving them the LCBO product number which in the case of Rochefort 10 is #374363. Although you would hope it would be different, most store employees won't have a clue about beers in the seasonal program. With the number they can look...

I'm heading out to Summerhill momentarily to put a big dent in their Rochefort 10 inventory with orders from various bars around the city so watch out! The warehouse is out of Rochefort 8 right now so there won't be any store replenishments until the new year but Summerhill still has lots of it even...

SAISON DUPONT

It would be a shame to see this disappear from the shelves once again. Some of you longer in tooth might remember that we had it as a General Listing in a small bottle over 10 years ago in a time when Belgians were few and far between. In fact, the only other Belgian crafts at the time were Duvel an...

Westmalle

Not likely to see any Westmalle at the LCBO in the near future. Brewery production has peaked and demand just keeps growing so we were told not to offer it to the LCBO as they could not supply it in volume. LCBO would actually like to permanently list one of them. However, we do continue to carry bo...
