Re: Bellwoods Homebrewing Competition

I still want to try those garlic and ramen beers. I laughed that you got two shout outs in the first paragraph! The winner apparently is an assistant brewer at Duggan's now, which is pretty cool. Though kinda uncool of Duggan's to put out a press release about it, to my mind. Seems a little stealing...

Re: Canadian Brewing Awards 2015

30 entries is crazy. At $100 a pop, plus the cost of sending your crew out, hotels, and tickets, that's like... $10K on the CBAs? Is it really worth all that, especially considering some breweries (Bellwoods, DDC) don't enter at all?

We're working on that too. I know it's a pain that it's currently not open earlier on the weekends (or on Sunday at all). As we expand our inhouse brewing the hours should expand too.

Thanks. I'll be at the People's Pint event so hopefully I'll see you there. I think we're a pretty good warm up for amateur brew since we're still only semi-pro! :D

Is this an LCBO image? Wonder if they got permissions to use Bellwoods art (Farmhouse Classic and Cat Lady) for the posters... you know, since they are not currently sold in LCBOs?

Re: Habits to be nano brewing

Hey! A little last minute, but tonight (May 26th) we're tapping our newest collaboration. It's with Stone Hammer and the legendary George Eagleson will even be dropping by around 7 to officially tap the first keg. It's a light, summery wheat saison with galaxy hops. Should be pretty tasty. It'll be ...

Re: Sours, Brett, Wild, and Saisons

If you give us some time, Habits Nanobrewery (@HabitsGastropub, Collage and Dovercort - yah, that's not far from Bellwoods!) is ONLY brewing saisons/brett/funky beers with some sours/wild/barrel aged (we've already got a pinot noir barrel aged saison in barrels) and more classic Belgian things in t...

Re: Welcome to the new Forum!

It's all so modern looking. Feels like when Muskoka re-branded from cottage brewery to, um, brewery. Great work. Excited for new members.

It's going to be interesting how the growlers is going to work. I can't see the LCBO staff filling on site. It will probably be the brewery providing pre-filled growlers. So do these growlers have to be tested? And sit in a warehouse for a couple of weeks? And then the beer is horrendous by the tim...

A couple things from my perspective. I’ve been hesitant to weigh in because I am mostly involved in the brewing side of the business and not as much involved with the permits and regulations. What I say here is not a representation of our legal counsel’s opinions, they are my own. Basically, I’d lik...

Trafalgar ESB, Chocolate Orange Porter, Mighty Oak

My hands were sweaty as I walked toward the counter. I was about to do something I swore I would never do again. My heart was racing. The LCBO cashier looked at me with a mix of surprise and distain. Then I could see it click in his brain… “this guy called a brewery a scumlord on twitter after that ...

I went for dinner here last night. The tap and bottle list is well above average and food was great, especially the seabass, mac and cheese and batatas bravas. I thought the Habits Saison (4th batch) was good and very accessible, maybe a bit light on the funk. My non-beer geek friend loved it and s...
