Re: Common Good Beer Co.

The beer isn't over the moon... but by fuck if you can't buy 12 cans of Busch for $26. Common Good prices are turbo for quality beer. I don't work for them... just honest to goodness sturdy brew. Agreed! I don't see Overhop getting much mention here, but it seems like a damn fine addition to the sc...

Re: So is $3.75 for a 355ml can the new norm in east Toronto?

For those willing to venture a little further out, Scarborough's Common Good sells 500ml cans for around $2.50, and I find the quality to be quite decent. I believe their double IPA clocks in at around $2.95, and growler fills are ridiculously cheap. I expect rent is a huge factor for some of these...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Some interesting listings popping up these days ... I saw the Westy 12, which I think someone on here learned from the BO was a "mistake" (weird mistake to make), but now also seeing some other nice Belgian listings (but no in-store availability as yet) such as: Liefmans Goudenband - LCBO...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Founders Backwoods Bastard - drinking so smooth fresh, and I imagine that it will keep nice character with a bit of age too. I get a ton of vanilla and brown sugar in this. The alcohol is well-hidden, but the heavy, complex flavour makes it a very slow sipper nonetheless. Founders Mosaic Promise - I...

Re: LCBO Lucky Finds

Here's one out of left field. Kagua Blanc found at the Highway 7 and Woodbine LCBO. This is the same location that currently has Hitachino Amber, Lager, Nipponia and Espresso Stout. Its tasty with some vibrant citrus peel notes balanced by earthy pepper. https://untappd.com/b/far-yeast-brewing-compa...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

- Black Creek Canada 150 Best Bitter Ale - LCBO tallboy (5%). I am a sucker for a good bitter. When I am in the mood for an ESB, I usually reach for Fuller's ESB or Wells Bombardier. But this is a fine domestic, presumably temporary, substitute that I approve of and have already returned to. I'm a ...

I've seen Creemore's version on the shelves, and I think the latest Mill Street mix pack has a couple oktoberfests in it.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but if I'm reading this right there seems to be a bunch of Hitachino stuff at Highway 7 and Woodbine. They have the amber, espresso stout, lager and nipponia. As in, available for single bottle purchase? The LCBO site is only showing online/full ca...

Re: Toronto Beer Week 2017

We occasionally receive guest submissions for our content, and we used this one in the beer guide. I’ll be honest and admit that i didn't proof this beyond the first half, otherwise that sentence would have been edited out. TBW is about broadening the audience for craft beer, and not encouraging ina...

Re: Drinking old - not aged - beer

About 4 years ago when they still sold beer on Ebay in the UK I bought some old Courage RIS bottles from the 70s and 90s, including one from my birth year of 75. Didn't expect much at all, but they were all great, the 78 was the best. Won't ever get a chance to do that again I'm sure. I did the sam...

You could still get it on tap at Hafis as of 3pm for $5, with pours of Motley Cru at $8.
