Could the bar make the pick up? What funny laws we have....
That's a good one...the general public can buy kegs from breweries...I'm sure bars can't.
I've heard you can't just walk into an LCBO and buy alcohol to stock a bar.

Re: beerbistro

I think there are still a few ways to differentiate your draft list that people aren't doing. There are 125 breweries, 38 brew pubs, and 47 contract brewers in this province, yet draft lists at Volo/Bar-Hop etc focus on a subset of about 20-30 of them. You can make arguments that these 20-30 brewer...

Very much looking forward to trying Double Tempest.

Re: beerbistro

It's bloody near impossible to have a special beer list these days. You can either try to import your own, which basically nobody does any more, or you can spend a lot of time on the phone with brewers begging them for kegs of their special stuff, which I think normally comes with lower margins for...

Re: LCBO Winter craft beer release 2015

Most of the beers they have are at Sin & Redemption (plus sister bars) for much cheaper prices. Those bars really have some great bargains on their bottle lists... Half those bottles are not in stock and likely never have been, and to that extent the lists at Sin et al are a complete sham. Last...

There's also shuttle buses from Toronto for $10 round trip. Great planning on their part.

Re: Cask Days 2015

OK, but the House Ales Porter House was listed at 5.8% so unless I'm missing something here it just seemed like an arbitrary decision not to give out 10oz pours by the server. All casks with a red dot on its sign were 5oz only. This included all the imports/high ABV. Not sure why House Ales was inc...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

new format at TBS.. seems like an odd beer to carry in cases.. but what do I know. Fruli Strawberry Beer 24 × Bottle 330 ml Price: $72.95 Even weirder is that bartenders seem to pour it over ice. Certainly led to my friend promptly sending it back when he got a beer with ice cubes in it. That being...

Re: LCBO Winter craft beer release 2015

I also thought that part of the reason the beer shelf space shrunk was because they combined ciders/coolers/beer into one category.
I remember reading an annual report about it.

From what I've been told by our head office, it's something like: 1. Mill St 2. Steam Whistle 3. Beau's 4. Muskoka 5. Amsterdam 6. Great Lakes 7. Wellington 8. Lake of Bays 9. Flying Monkeys 10. Nickel Brook 3 & 4 could be reversed, as could 5 & 6. 8, 9 & 10 could also be in a different...

For anyone who didn't already know - Great lakes have officially discontinued their Devils Pale Ale opening up a spot for a future beer to fit into their core lineup. http://www.canadianbeernews.com/2015/10/09/great-lakes-dropping-devils-pale-ale-from-brand-line-up/ Can't say I'm happy about that. ...

Re: Labatt buys Millstreet

I still drink cobblestone stout and the vanilla porter on occasion. Tankhouse is a very different beer compared to what it was but such is life. Ben Johnson wrote a good article about it. http://torontolife.com/food/wine-and-beer/labatt-buying-mill-street-brewery-is-actually-not-a-bad-thing-for-craf...
