Re: beer (alcohol) and health
Beau's Lug Tread 2.5 was sort of OK so long as you keep it nice and cold. Last tried in 2021.

Re: beer (alcohol) and health
I, again, mostly agree with tapsucker. But just to clarify, when I said I don't see the point of NA beer, mocktails or decaf coffee, I was speaking only for myself personally. No judgment here if others want to "indulge". Heck, I even have an NA beer or two and some decaf on hand for visit...

Re: Nova Scotia
I agree with the general sentiment but I'm not sure it really applies to Halifax. A vibrant and expanding beer scene that was largely untouched by COVID, certainly compared to Toronto and most of the rest of the country. Lots happening in that Agricola - Gottingen area of the city just to the north ...

Re: Nova Scotia
Hey, Screw2000, great to hear you will be reporting from Halifax and environs. I was last out in April 2022. Stayed at the Atlantica Hotel, which has remodelled their bar and revamped their draught list, not for the better unfortunately. I went to Stillwell Public House for the undeniably good cask ...

Re: beer (alcohol) and health
Mocktails. Time to kill this shit with fire. Remember when low fat became an obsession only to eventually find out the substitute to fat was a disgusting amount of sugar? Cocktail culture has been pumping insane amounts of sugar into people (especially the young). Removing the alcohol is IMHO not w...

Re: Merchant Ale House
Thanks for reviving the old thread about Merchant! One of those places I've never been, but glad to hear they're still going. One of those rare places that has cask -- or did as recently as 2019 (haven't been since) -- which is what makes it really special for me. I know the presumed "death of...

Re: Merchant Ale House
Did a search and found a very old thread for this place. I've been there a few times over the last few years; it's a really nice little place. Last time I was there was last spring and I bought a Merchant Ale House Skullkrusher Bourbon Barrel Aged Brown Ale I had it tonight which prompted me to fin...

Re: Gout, filtered vs unfiltered beer, and the guy trying to cheat the system
This November/December I experienced my first bout of gout, and it was without a doubt the worst experience of my life. To make it even more special, 3 different doctors said that it was the worst case they'd ever seen... yay me! Jeez! Sorry to hear that. Only thing that has worked for me when Mr. ...

Re: Goose Island Black Friday 2021
OK thanks. The old "lining up" days were almost fun (almost) with coffee and donuts in the line, some swag one year, etc. Maybe I've been confined to the house too long if I'm looking back nostalgically at an hour-long queue!

Re: Goose Island Black Friday 2021
Anyone know how the LCBO release is going to work? Online only, or at a particular store (has been Summerhill in the past). I did a quick search of the LiCBO web site but could find nothing more than "Coming Soon".

Re: Brunswick Bierworks
I mean, I see a lot more Mikkeler, Omnipollo, etc. at the LiCBO (and at Loblaws in the case of the latter) now that they are made at Brunswick. Don't know what the overall sales are but it might well be healthy? I suspect that they must be to have attracted the investment. It's never been clear to ...

Re: 2020 Holiday Gift Packs at the LCBO
That's funny. Me too. I hand them to my kids and say "here, give me this for Christmas." Works out well for all concerned.El Pinguino wrote:Wooop, love the Belgian gift packs.
I'm guessing none of them have glassware though...I pretty much just buy the giftpacks for myself though

Yeah, I get that, thanks. That is my point. You see their entire inventory, a good 75% of which is complete crap.
