I have to say I'm really happy to see this kind of development in TO. I've thought about this kind of thing with Montreal brewpubs - that I like how (sometimes) the brewing side of the operation is woven into the fabric of the bar, and it doesn't need to be the centerpiece. In other words, it's not...

Augusta Ale will also make an appearance (Bottles + Cans). I was there on Saturday and was impressed with the turn out. I guess it's no surprise - the line up is pretty awesome. A few pumpkin offerings, pale ales, a few lagers...you name it. Definitely a great way to introduce people to Ontario craft.

As a dog owner myself, I can sympathize with you on this one. I hope he turns up OK.

OK, but how is Mad & Noisy (referenced in Mike's original post) misleading people? Their press release is on Creemore letterhead and don't look like they're trying to be deceitful. Creemore has 'craft cred' but now that's under corporate ownership it seems like that's what's painting them in a ...

Common theme is that nobody has a dedicated brewery for the brands. We all understand damn well enough what a 'craft' brewery is, and that some 'large' breweries pretty much stand on that level, and some 'nano' breweries are woefully short of themark. Need I mention Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen Weis...

For sure. I was drinking Mad & Noisy last night which is a perfectly nice brew. It's a "craft brand" invented by business people for the purpose of capitalizing on a successful trend. Similarly, KBC, Hops & Robbers, Spearhead are also "craft brands" invented by entrepren...

I just can't help but feel skeptical and concerned about motives. It reeks of opportunism and someone playing "me too". Put that way, perhaps the same can be said with respect to the relatively large number of new 'legit' microbreweries that have popped up in Ontario in recent years, atte...

Valid point - but not entirely what I meant (I'll take blame for not doing a better job of clarifying). Size is not the only factor. As I mentioned, I don't necessarily have an issue with size. If the product is decent, fine re: kronenbourg experience. It's being BS'ed and sold a product with terms ...

Without a doubt, there is a lot of silliness out there when it comes to the "us vs. them" mentality. To be honest, the Stone Brewing philosophy of "make fun of yellow fizzy beer at all costs" has always rubbed me the wrong way. At the end of the day, you're not a sucker because y...

Picked up a bottle last night at the LCBO. Awesome packaging - truly looks like a hand crafted product. Tastes fantastic with lots of biscuit and a nice bready, chewiness to it. Probably my favourite Beau's offering.

Hey guys, This is exactly the type of discussion I was hoping to achieve. It is, unfortunately, one of those subjects that does require a lot of clarification. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong about beer produced in large quantities. I do, however, take issue with lip service being gi...

Stopped in for a pint that turned into a few. Almost universally good beer. Was impressed by the street wheat and the Cockpuncher, but the Pumpkin Abby was really great. Phenomenal, actually. Had the smoked wings, pizza and chili cheese fries, all of which were good. Service was good but a little di...

KBCo Baldwin FishEYE-PA Launch party @ Bar Hop Oct. 25th

Hi everyone, I'm Super happy (hoppy?) to announce the official launch of our second beer, Baldwin FishEYE-PA. This beer was developed over a series of three pilot batches, appropriately named 1.1 through 1.3, with each edition being released to the public for review. We've taken the input we receive...

I picked up a 6 pack of this over the weekend and made quick work of it. Lots of flavour in a super-sessionable package. I've been inspired to try my own parti gyle next brew day!
