Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
I definitely saw the Export Lager in the LCBO last summer, but maybe that was just because I'm pretty local to the brewery. Yea I've definitely noticed seemingly regional LCBO listings before. A brewery out my way, Chronicle, has a listing but it's really only available at Durham Region LCBOs. Here...

Re: Breweries Selling outside beers
Maybe as long as a food item is included? I think this is it. A $1.00 bag of chips will do. As I understand it, the law changed during COVID to help restaurants by allowing them to add alcohol to take-out orders. This is an exploitation of that law. I find it really stupid. If you are going to allo...

Re: Elora Brewing Company (n. of Guelph)
Elora is a solid brewery, I've generally been impressed with what I've had. As far as Landbiers, I've had precisely one actual German landbier from Privatbrauerei Einsiedler. It was filtered and definitely more commercial, but right as you described between a kellerbier and dunkel with regards to ma...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
This one's been on my to-try list for a while, happy to see it's coming to the LCBO. Also, agreed re. IPAs at the LCBO; we have enough. Also, IPAs like the ones Willibald makes are much better bought fresh from the brewery. I find a lot of the NE/hazy leaning listings at the LCBO are hit-and-miss if...

Re: Breweries Selling outside beers
I've noticed the food thing has been enforced at some breweries, others never bothered. I'm guessing everyone's just playing fast and loose with the rules these days because they're mostly b.s. anyway.

Re: beerbistro
I too have many fond memories of that place, it was definitely my favourite spot in the city for a while. Those prices sure do remind me why I don't go out much anymore though, nearly 10 bucks for a 400 ml draft on most of those beers; yikes. Obviously there are still less expensive places, but my r...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
Has anyone seen Collective Arts Saint of Circumstance lately? Neither my local TBS, LCBOs, or supermarkets have had it for what seems like half a year now. Even on the Collective Arts website it is one of the beers that doesn't have a "Shop Now" link for ordering suggesting it is no longe...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
Definitely disappointing news, especially since I never grabbed any of their stuff before they closed. Always meant to but kept passing it over.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
So it appears the regular Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout showed up in addition to the peanut butter variant. Was a pleasant surprise as I love this beer and wasn't all that interested in the peanut butter one.

Re: Vancouver Updates
Thanks for this. I must revisit. It's interesting what the fog of memory/nostalgia can deliver. At one time Central City had a shine to it compared to Ontario, and maybe they are still good, but it seems the lustre is gone. I still feel Howe Sound is on the mark, but I don't know if they have had t...

Very interesting, I think that's the first I've seen a sports stadium/arena used for a beer fest. Certainly helps with seating which is usually hard to come by at festivals.

Re: Vancouver Updates
nothing I had particularly blew me away, at least in the sense that our second tier stuff would be top tier over there. Certainly lots of great spots, but we really are spoiled in Ontario, which I'd say rivals almost anywhere in North America for quality of beer. This was my impression a few years ...

Re: Vancouver Updates
Alright, so Vancouver. First off, I don't think one can visit without commenting on how beautiful it is. Not just the mountains and ocean, but the city itself is so vibrant, urban and walkable. It's very conducive to brewery touring as there are often lots of stops close by to each other. It's certa...

Re: 2022 B.C. Beer Awards
Just so happens I got back from Vancouver yesterday. Nice to see that Wildeye Czech Pilsner took top honours in the Int'l Pale Lager category, that was actually one of my favourite beers I tried. Ended up being my "go-to" for the weekend. I'll be updating the Vancouver thread with my thoug...

Re: Muskoka Brewery
Lots of activity in the industry recently. Here's more. Muskoka Brewery Acquires Rally Beer Company I kind of laugh at Rally Beer (which I am not sure I have ever seen or interacted with), as they are a beer with electrolytes. Years ago Sleeman made a beer with coconut water targeted at active folk...
