They re-released the Porter this year along with the IPA. I think I read somewhere that they're making the Porter part of the regular line-up now, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. Not a bad way to guage interest in a beer. Bring it out for a limited time and if it sells well, put it out as a ...

Mill Street News/Rumours

I dropped by the Mill St. Brewery to pick up a couple bottles of their Barley Wine. I've never had it, or any barley wine for that matter, and was somewhat shocked by the $5 a bottle cost. Oh well, one to try now and one to age. If you can't make it to the brewery, you will also be able to buy their...

"Great" glasses

I was surprised to see beer glasses for sale at Loblaws with the "Great Lakes Brewery" logo on them. I can't say I'm a fan of their beer, but kudos to them (or their marketing people) for getting some brand placement in a major supermaket, even if it's not beer. Maybe they'll sell a few ex...

How critical is it that we find/bring our certificate of purchase with us to pick up our case?
I never received mine, so I'm hoping proof of identity will suffice!

Great! I will be there, but won't be able to get down there until around 6:30pm. How long were you planning on sticking around?

Esprit, I admire your passion, though not your attitude. While you are quite right that I don't know much, if anything, about how the Beer Store is run, I am not overly concerned about it. I would also go on to speculate that most people don't care - if they did, they'd have joined the crusade to ch...

"Discussed" beer would be an overstatement. The clerk basically yelled to the back room, where a manager-like person happened to be standing and went on to explain that they were expecting a shipment "in a couple weeks". I was skeptical, but wanted to believe.... Overall, it does...

That's too bad about the bock - though it's funny because the guy at the beer store assured me they would have it in stock in week or two - ha! I guess they'll have to redo their board

I look forward to trying the draft Andechs!

Definitely try it again! For me, it had a great balance that tipped from a nice malt start to a clean hop finish. I like the other Mill St. offerings, especially the Tankhouse, but as the cold weather has decended, I've been buying more malty lagers and bocks.

I also had this at Beer Bistro and this is one of the best Ontario draught beers I've had in a long long time. Too bad there are no plans to bottle this golden harvest nectar.

The Hacker dunkel weisse was pretty good as well!

Thanks for the update(s). The moosehead factor doesn't seem to be a big deal. I haven't noticed any change to the McAuslan products and the only big change I noticed with Niagara was their labeling (though I haven't sampled their line recently enough to tell if their character has changed). Speaking...

Beer Store fact or fiction?

After a discussion with an employee at my local Beer Store (Jane and Dundas), I was wondering if someone might be able to confirm that: 1) Moosehead owns Niagara Falls Brewing 2) Brick Anniversary Bock is returning this season Cheers to good beer! I can't wait for all winter/gift pack releases at th...

Growing hops?

I'm looking to grow some hops in the backyard for fun and was wondering if anyone knows where to get some root cuttings, or rhizomes (as they don't start from seed)?

I not into homebrewing (yet), but I thought the garden could use some beer inspired vegetation!
