Looking for a good pub
My birthday is coming up, so the girlfriend and I were thinking about finding a good place to go out for dinner. Since its my birthday, the priority is finding a place with a good selection of both taps and bottles. I'm from St. Catharines, which is pretty well devoid of good places to go for beer, ...

Well I know that with some German beers such as Hefeweizens you're supposed to do the whole swirl the bottle trick, but I was under the impression that with Chimay and other Trappists beers you were supposed to leave the yeast in the bottle. Is the yeast versus no yeast just a matter of personal pre...

Gentlemen and Gentlewomen, I had the glorious opportunity to pick up the Chimay Gift pack today and I am very happy. The packaging was nice for the trip home, at which point I tore it a part to place the 3 bottles in the fridge and the chalice is awesome. I do, however, have an interesting question....

Well I've added my voice and although I doubt it will accomplish anything I have grown very weary of the LCBO and The Beer Store. I have turned to brewing my own beer and making trips to Buffalo to get a quality product. Its all because I live in St. Catharines and apparently the LCBO believes that ...

I did an inventory search and I was delighted to discover that the Biere du Boucanier gift pack is actually available in St. Catharines! So I was wondering if the beer intelligentsia could tell me if it is worth picking up? I personally cannot wait until the Chimay gift packs show up in stores. I ha...

I'm heading over to Buffalo next week, so the girlfriend can do some shopping, and I can indulge in my love affair with beer. I plan on stopping in at either Premier Gourmet or Consumer's Beverages, I'm not quite sure yet. So any friendly advice anyone could offer considering my destination of choic...

I was wondering the same thing as JWalter, I live in St. Catharines and I would prefer not to drive up to Toronto on sunday for the sole purpose of buying a ticket. If anyone would be willing to buy a single for the brewer's breakfast I would be more than happy to paypal the money to them, or give t...

I was just curious if anyone from the Niagara region had any intentions of going to this? If so, do you want to carpool? You can imagine that I hesitate to drive up and then drive back potentially intoxicated. I would be more than happy to contribute to gas and I would love to have a marathon sessio...

Anyone from the Niagara Region going?
I was wondering if anyone from St. Catharines, or close by, is thinking of going and would want someone riding shotgun to split the cost of gas with? I say this knowing the chances are slim to none, but I would love to go to this without having to think about driving home. If anyone's interested let...

Thanks for the tips pootz, but I'm looking for ales I can get at the LCBO or the beer store. St. Catharines is not exactly a beer mecca and I'd have to travel to Hamilton to sample some of those fine brews. With that said, however, I will put Magnotta classic IPA on my list to buy for sure this week...

IPAs available in Ontario
I'm trying to get my friend to recognize the difference between a good and a bad IPA, he seems to think that Alexander Kieth's is a good example of an IPA. I want to change that. I therefore pose the question, what is a good IPA you can buy in Ontario? Would Sgt. Major be a good example of the style...

Thanks for the tips! I'm currently brewing at Brew Time in Hamilton since my small apartment I don't believe would be conducive to all-grain brewing. I don't have to worry about long time storage since I have no place to keep them. I'm therefore forced to drink one batch before I bottle the next. I ...

Swing top beer bottles...anyone know where I can get them?
I'm new to the bar towel and the home brewing scene, and I was hoping to tap the vast knowledge of the people here. I would like to buy some swing-top beer bottles, preferably in sizes of 500ml or larger, for bottling my delicious brew. So I put the question to the ladies and gentlemen who patrol th...
