Picked up one the other day and promptly put it down in my beer cellar. I haven't tried one yet, but the reviews here are so positive that I don't need to try it yet.

I emailed them with some questions on their new brewery. It got bounced back. Not a good sign. I drove by it and didn't see any signs up or any activity at all.

I bought my shelves at Costco. Kind of expensive, but very sturdy. 125 lbs. per shelf so I keep my beer grains on some of them. I need a couple more to expand my beer cellar, but not at this time of year.

I had one yesterday. Wow! The roasted barley really comes out. Love the shape of the bottle too. It will soon have homebrew in it.

I have been waiting until December to take a trip to our local LCBO. The way things are looking, I should get there soon.

Smithworks Brewery

Our local Peterborough paper says that the Smithworks Brewery wants to purchase the former Kawartha Lakes Brewery site which was bought by Amsterdam Brewing a few years ago. They will "sell by the glass". What does that mean? It is situated in an industrial area. I didn't dig up much about...

If I can find it, this is one beer I take to dinner parties. Yes, I get odd looks when everyone else has brought a bottle of wine, but most of them know I make my own beer and usually bring my own Belgian brew which I bottle in similar sized bottles.

Good for them for being successful. Being an all-grain brewer for 15 years I don't have a lot of positives to say about this. I like the whole process of making beer from scratch from start to finish. If I see this kit I will certainly buy it and only then say anything positive or negative about it.

Craft Beer Prices in US vs LCBO

I find it hard to get prices from some US Craft Beer store web-sites, but when I do a lot of the bigger bottles of beer are cheaper here from the LCBO. I have seen the 30 cans of Coors light etc. for $15.99, but the real beer in single bottles that are in bigger sizes like 600 ml or larger are cheap...
