I agree that Creemore is the champion transition beer in these parts. Otherwise, Sleeman Cream Ale? I also like the Walkerville as a pleasant but not overly challenging micro, both the lager and the blonde.

Steve: When I was in Florida over Christmas I had, and didn't mind at all, a beer that I was told is a Coors "stealth micro" call Blue Moon Belgian White. Is this in fact true (that it's a Coors product). If so, do you think it provides any clues as to how they might treat Creemore?

The new Wilson-Dufferin stores has one of the better beer selections, I believe.

Just had my first "bomber" of Headstrong and found it very enjoyable. Not to re-open this debate needlessly, but surely this is an American-style pale ale. The dominant characteristic is the upfront hoppiness, which (I believe someone said) would be incongruous in a fine English country pu...

Cask conditioned Macleans Pale Ale, cask conditioned Durham XXX, cask conditioned Scotch-Irish Dogsbody are all terrific when found in excellent condition. King Pilsner is very good, IMO. Black Oak's Saison was outstanding, I thought, and I second the view re Nutcracker. Finally, one I've only had o...

My recollection is that both Ruddles County Ale and Ruddles Best Bitter were former LCBO regulars in 500 ml. cans. They were delisted, I believe, about two, three (?) years ago. Nice to see the County back. I liked the Best Bitter as a lower alcohol (it was somewhere around 3.5%) alternative for Sup...

Harvest Pale Ale, cask conditioned

I've enjoyed this at the Bow the last two nights (and thanks to the fellows from F&M for the tasting Thursday). Has anyone else tried it? I've found it to be a bit thin initially, but developing into a beguiling dry hoppiness that is quite delicious. Definitely more-ish. Always happy to see some...

We just have Unibroue, basically
I think that's a bit over-dramatic. We also have Mill Street, Black Oak, Scotch Irish, King, F&M and Durham making some very very fine beers. First rate brew pubs in Toronto (Granite) and Burlington, too.

Sounds good. I will try to attend. What time does it start? Also, where is Tanner's Pub? I did a search, including the Neighbourhood Pub group's site, but couldn't find it.

Have you really? I know the Maclean's Pale has been around, cask conditioned, for many years, but I had never even heard of Stonehammer Dark Ale (as opposed to Stonehammer Pilsner) until about six months ago, let alone cask conditioned. Wish I had known! I presume the outlet has been the Judge.

Cask Conditioned F&M Stonehammer Dark

For those of you who are into ratebeer (I am not), I came across something at Volo on Saturday afternoon that I had never had, or seen, previously - cask conditioned F&M Stonehammer Dark Ale. Don't know if this is new or if it is old news to ratebeerians. Anyway, it was pleasantly malty, and mor...

I also thought the Captain Cascade was tremendous. Did others enjoy it? What do you think the chances are that the cask might not be completely drained?
