Just to clarify my point, I would be surprised if the increase in pricing was the main factor. The customer base for a beer like Headstrong (ie, bartowellers) is usually willing to pay extra for good/excellent product; heck, I spent $7 a bottle for a case of Fullers last year. As I mentioned, unit s...

This is sad news. I thought these two beers were excellent in terms of the Ontario market and at least very solid overall. However, I could only buy them at non local LCBO outlets, so I rarely bought them. As well, the bomber size doesn't really suite me, so Mill Street Tankhouse in a six would win ...

Wow! You guys are fast on the replies---thanks. Unfortunately, I had a feeling (that your replies confirmed) when I looked at the QV website that the product was unlikely to be exceptional. Oh well, I'll have to make do with passing through Premier Gourmet both ways on the scenic route. Schom...

viennna is a style that's hard/impossible to find in Ontario. It's often categorized with oktoberfest/marzen. I've tried a few oktoberfests from reputable German brewers and loved them. St. Andre is the only "Vienna" lager I've tried (I think), so I have no other frame of reference to comp...

Newfie Beer

Taking the family to Newfoundland this summer----is there any good beer I should be looking to bring back? I've heard of Quidi Vidi 1892 and Eric's Red (which won a silver at the 2001 world champs, if that means anything?)---are these any good?

Thanks in advance,

I've been drinking pilsbock (bottles) fairly regularly since this years release in March and have quite enjoyed it. It's malty, relatively low carbonated body says bock, but the BLAST of saaz hops makes you think pils, hence the name makes sense. Whatever the name / style, this is a satisfying and r...

Old Peculiar Strong Ale

What happened to Granite Brewery Old Peculiar strong ale? It was available in some beer stores in six pack bottles until about a year or so ago. This was a flavourful English style brew that I quite enjoyed during the colder months. I found the malt/hops to be more balanced than the widely available...
