Drank a rotweizen over the holidaze. Very out of season, but I had a lot of wheat, and wheat yeast kicking around that I never got around to using during the summer.

Sitting on an altbock that is taking my life time to lager, and a just finished brewing a Belgian stout.

I'll second this review. Was a bit nervous it being in a clear glass bottle. But those worries were unfounded. Really quite good.

weird fermentation ideas

I was thinking of trying to ferment milk. I am not sure on this but I figure lactose free milk has been processed with lactase. Thus the lactose in the milk has already been broken down into a simple sugar (which I have no wild guess what that be) that can be processed by those who are lactose intol...

If you read other HB forums about using olive oil. The calculated amount you would need for a 20 litre is so extremely minuscule that there isn't a realistic way of measuring it out. For instance, I do know they use olive oil at Olde Saratoga. I believe they used 60 ml for 170 barrels. You can do th...

For the sake of it I did google 'soapy' taste. Not much out there in hows, and whys. Just alot of theorizing. Most answers speculate that the trub in the primary is being broken down into fatty acids by the acidity of beer.

Had this finally last night. Didn't like the aroma hopping. Imparted a too strong floral, and soapy note. The rest of the beer was great, once you guzzled back enough of it to ignore the soap flavour.
