Re: Coronavirus

Haha! This would be an interesting PR issue for Corona for sure. Although probably best not to panic, as with everyone else.

Re: Crossroads (Weston & 401) clearance section

This once (occasionally) exciting clearance section has been kinda quiet for beer these days. I think with online beer sales, there's less special-ordered products ending up here. Most of what does show up was previously (sometimes concurrently) for sale online. Today I came across a couple cases of...

Re: LCBO Online Exclusives

I don't want to speak for the importer/brewery, but I think those stickers that are added come from the lab testing the LCBO make you do. If the ABV in the test doesn't match the bottle label, you have to add a sticker. Yup that's what I thought too, but the discrepancy is more than 30%. Seems unus...

Re: LCBO Online Exclusives

First, thanks for the support... Thanks for the info, excited to open these. What about serving temperature for these two? I notice they say to refrigerate 24 hours before opening. Does that mean serve cold? Also, Dark White says 4.7% abv on the brewery label, with a sticker saying 6.2% abv. What g...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

ügener Insel Brauerei Baltic Ale is on shelves. I don't think this was part of a seasonal release. It's definitively a solid golden Belgian ale, fruity, spicy, pretty good. Above average packaging.

Re: LCBO Online Exclusives

I ordered a bottle of Fantome HIver and Dark White last night. How do these beers take to cellaring?
Dark White sounds like something I might want to save for Christmas 2020.

Also missing "13332 Bohemian Black Lager - 500mL - Czech Republic". Unless the SKU was switched and this was Czechvar Dark Lager, which happens to be discounted right now.

Lindemans Cuvée René 2017 — Goes great with grilled salmon. Bone dry, funky, white grape/green apple. I've been grabbing these each year since 2015 and have an nice little collection. And it's somehow inflation proof at $6 a bottle again this year.

Re: LCBO Lucky Finds

The Vitus Nobel is marked down via a hand written label tied to the neck which only says “Cascade.” It has the original price wrong, so the sale price is actually $16.45. The Sang Royal have no such labels, clearly an oversight, which was corrected for me, via a price override.

Re: LCBO Lucky Finds

Cascade Vitis Noble and Sang Royal are $8 off (~$18) at Weston/401 location, possibly elsewhere too as Cascade a proved slow-moving at regular prices here.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Bell's Blackbeard's Bear Hug (rum barrel aged IS with cinnamon, vanilla and coconut) — Nose is molasses and rum barrel with a coconut/cinnamon flourish. All the flavours are perfectly integrated and it’s a bit warming on the way down at 14.4% abv. Cinnamon specks float on top of the beer and leave a...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

De Dolle Oerbier and Dulle Teve — Both lived up to the hype. Oerbier is world class and has me thinking about pulling quads out of the cellar. Dulle Teve is perhaps the most potent tripel I've had. In many ways (including abv) it drinks like a quad. Both gushed mildly out of the bottle.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Blood Brothers Unify or Die — Love drinking this one around the holidays. Medium-full bodied, full of cinnamon/coffee stouty goodness, a touch over carbonated, but remedied with some in-glass agitation. This reminds me, I must go fetch some Balam before it's gone.
