Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO
You should try it fresh from the source sometime, it's just heaven. You can also do a nice little brewery tour - Phillips, Hoyne, Vancover Island Brewing, and Moon Under Water are all within walking distance of Driftwood's brewery in Victoria.jeremyg wrote:Fat Tug is so, so good fresh. Agreed. I was also a huge fan of the Sacch Trois IIPA.beerstodiscover wrote:The PEC IPA from a few weeks back was a great northeast IPA IMO.
Picked up a couple of the double dry hopped monogamy with 'hop hash', can't wait to try it.

Yeah, it's a great price. You can get Cascade easily enough in BC and Alberta but you're typically paying $40-50 a bottle.BakaGaijin wrote:Also, the Cascade is cheaper than it is at the Cascade Brewery with exchange factored in.

Re: LCBO Online Exclusives
So apparently the LCBO can't / won't just sell any beers from online orders that are returned, they just pour them out. I ordered a case of Evil Twin Don No to split amongst friends, but we didn't want the entire thing so I planned on returning 4 of the bottles. I picked them up at the LCBO, told th...

Likely from $60-$80 a bottle. I love Cascade but I was already hurting when I paid $45 a bottle last time.Napalm Frog wrote:When I had Cascade in NYC, it was ridiculous. Half the serving size at double the price. Really curious to see what TO prices are.

I also asked about the possibility of "back in stock" notifications. you make a great point re: back in stock notifications, this is something we intend to do in the future for sure. Though I won't hold my breath and will likely just whip up some script to constantly check the pages for ch...

Re: New non-LCBO/TBS beer releases
Great Lakes is releasing Solstice Imperial Stout again today. Bellwoods released Ghost Orchid, a pale ale. They also said: Coming down the pipeline we've got 5 hits from the past -- 3 of them are barrel-aged, 2 contain cherries, and 2 are imperial stouts. All coming before the end of the year. It s...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
Actually I was at Indie ale house last week and ended up leaving without buying anything because they wanted $18 - $20 for a 750ml bottle for the ones that looked interesting to me. On top of that, they couldn't even give me a sample of most of them. Yeah, I got the Sunkicked Orange Wit when it cam...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
I had one of the Raspberry 3 Minutes to Midnight the other night and it was nice and smooth. I also had some Donkey Venom (2014 / batch #2) and Barn Owl #3. Both were also drinking quite well, the Donkey Venom was less sour / funky and more mellow and the Barn Owl was still nice and crisp with lots ...

Agreed re: Outliers. I enjoyed it but it wasn't as good as BOYD, and it was a whopping $13 for an 8oz pour. I had stopped by in the middle of a pub crawl, if I wasn't already liquored up I probably wouldn't have paid that (or would have split it with a friend).

I enjoyed a number of their Greener Futures beers, but even then towards the end of the program there were many that I didn't really enjoy.

Re: LCBO Online Exclusives
Oh, definitely. I've been to the brewery and brought bottles back with me and the cheapest one at the time was $25 USD. Bottles from other places like Calgary or Vancouver that I've bought ranged from $35 to $45 CAD. I can only imagine what the LCBO's minimum pricing and markup will do to that.
