Rogue's Hazelnut Brown has been my favourite over the years.
I had the Whitewater one last night. Very nice! I'd buy that again.

Great Lakes Lager. A case of 24 for $50 is hard to beat, it’s good cold, and fits the lawnmower beer requirement. For non-Ontario, it’s Jever for me - delicious Pilsner that’s relatively cheap. Jever is my go to, almost always in my fridge. I just went with DAB over Jever due to accessibility: I ca...

Re: Indie Alehouse / Eataly Birroteca
We've been several times. Nothing really further to add than that Cass has said.
The beer (only some I recall) is also available throughout the Eataly space.

Re: Betty's on King St is Closing
We went last night. The tap list is quite small now. Betty's Lager, Carlsberg, Asahi, Genius Stout and Wellington Upstart IPA are on tap. No food service though they have a sign saying to bring in your own food.

Didn't St Andre disappear for some time? Or am I misremembering? I recall it used to be on tap at C'est What years ago.

Re: Do you ask for a ‘pint’ anymore?
I do, but sadly with very low expectations of actually getting one. Not long ago I ordered a pint at The Only and at least, the bartender was decent enough to explain they only offered that beer in 12oz. Remember when ordering a half pint cost almost as much as a pint? Something, something cost of ...

Re: Do you ask for a ‘pint’ anymore?
I usually just ask for the beer name and modify that for any smaller size than whatever the posted "full" serving size that beer is.
"Pint" usually comes into play when I start bouncing around between sizes and the bartender asks if I want a "pint" or a "half."

Yeah that would be cool too.JerCraigs wrote:Something I would love to see is the ability to pre-order some of the one offs / new releases etc for pick up at this location vs trekking out to Etobicoke on transit.

Re: Great Lakes Brewpub (Queen's Quay / Jarvis)
I recall being told, perhaps incorrectly, that they had an octopus at the brewery. I always imagined it sneaking out at night for samples. :D I wouldn't put it past them to do that. I figure at some point the octopuses, dolphins and crows will get together at some point to devise a plan to get rid ...

Re: Philly Sour and Rhubarb
I've used the Philly Sour once so far. I brew 2.5 gallon batches and went with the recommendation on the packet scaling back as per my usual to half a packet. I later read significantly later after pitching that many people double up instead to achieve better results. So I added in the other half pa...

Re: Great Lakes Brewpub (Queen's Quay / Jarvis)
I hope this is better executed than the Amsterdam brewpub. Yeah have some of the flagship beers on, hopefully brought in from the main facility, while the on-premises equipment should be used for experimentation (and be well stocked!) and anything that proves popular scale up for broader distributio...

Re: Ontario will allow restaurants to sell takeout liquor, wine and beer
I'm hoping it sticks around too. Though the food requirement is silly. Much like before some of the liquor law changes from a few years ago when bars had to make available food for purchase. T&M made available frozen dinners for $20 which of course no one bought. I recall Black Dice doing someth...
