Ginjo and Junmai Ginjo are great sakes are are top quality. You want to avoid Futsu Shus as the alcohol is just added to them, and they do not taste as pure and clean. I love Nigori but they can be hard to find. Try Hakutsuru Nigori, and Hakutsuru Junmai, both are at the LCBO. Thanks. I looked for ...

Someone told me not to use sake for cooking, not a safety thing more of a taste thing and I tried using dry sherry but was not happy. Millions of Japanese can't be wrong... I need it mainly to prepare japanese dishes, so I don't think sherry would be appropriate. Any other suggestions? Particularly...

Sake at the LCBO?
Anybody have any recommendations for decent sake available at the LCBO? I need it mainly for cooking, but wouldn't mind being able to drink it (and I assume the wine/beer rule of not cooking with something you wouldn't want to drink holds here as well). Thanks. -Josh (I think there might have been a...

I liked the video up until he talked about wheats. His dialogue seemed to focus on Belgian Wits, but he was holding a German Hefe, and really didn't mention any of their qualities (like clove, banana) Then he finally mentions Hoegaarden, and picks up Rickard's White, claiming it as a great Canadian...

Re: The HST (not beer related)
Either way, I don't like new taxes. It is un-constitutionary and the fact that it was just implemented by the Liberal government with no refferendum whatsoever really bothers me. Down with McGuilty. Not liking something doesn't make it un-constitutionary [ sic ]. Except for a fringe argument relati...

Re: The HST (not beer related)
Sure, a business might open in Ontario because they get a certain tax break, but the savings they reap are only going towards their bottom line. Their savings are never passed down to the consumer. So the good aspect of the GST is automatically thrown on the window, and I am left to ponder............

I don't think the fact that its searchable in the LCBO database indicates that its on the general list. Or are you going on something else here?

I was talking to the Beau guys today. The reason they're listing that 12 pack at the beer store is so that they can get their empties back; currently the Beer Store is just smashing them. The fancy 12 pack will only be available at one Ottawa beer store and the brewery. I thought that was a pretty ...
