Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I'm not from the area, but I've been to Innocente a handful of times. Like nearby Block 3, they always have a good selection and reasonable bottle prices. Currently still holding onto two of those BBA Until Proven Guilty stouts, but all of this praise may just tempt me into opening one tonight. My r...

Re: I'm with you on that.

Anyway not to disrespect Stone's efforts, and I'll buy a few but I sure don't like being told our dollar is worth half what it is. This is not a fun game to be played by. It's definitely a bummer. If money were no object then I'd certainly buy another bottle or two just to support their continued p...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Over the past few days: Stone Smoked Porter - Dated Oct 1. Nice restrained smokiness, with lots of roasted malt flavour and a bittersweet aftertaste. Not bad, but at the current exchange rate I doubt I'll buy another bottle. Stone Coffee Milk Stout - Dated Oct 24. Good milk stout, but I've never bee...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Drinking a fat tug picked up earlier today. It's a tasty brew, no question, although I think I may have been expecting more. The head retention on it is unlike pretty much any IPA I've had. Pretty much a steal at 6$ for 650ml Picked up a third bottle today, after finishing the first two a few days ...

Re: Brothers Brewing

I am curious about what animal cruelty groups think In all seriousness, there is no reason to assume they poured actual beer into the bowl, given that the entire video was (an attempt at) a joke. I also suspect that the effect of an actual splash of Coors Light in a betta fish bowl would be roughly...

Re: LCBO Spring Craft Beer Release 2016?

I know that the first three pages of posts after the details are announced are going to be people complaining how underwhelming it is. :P "I sure do love me some LCBO warehouse-cellared IPAs from California" "Oh great, that Belgian import that I look forward to every year costs 2x as...

Re: Who makes a good porter?

I am a big fan of Stranger Than Fiction. They nailed the soft mouthfeel and it has a wonderful balance of sweet chocolate/coffee notes. This will be a regular purchase for me. Ditto, I was impressed with this one. It has been a while since I've tried a really solid, Ontario-made, regular old Englis...

Re: Royal City

Just tried one of their soured ales tonight - Lock, Stock In a Sour Barrel (5.3%). It's their stock ale aged for 6 months in Chardonnay wine barrels (from Tawse Winery), and it's pretty darn refreshing and delightful. Well-integrated funky sourness, with subtle buttery oak and vinous grape flavours....

Re: Forked River

Weendigo is coming back. Retail store now, 'select' LCBOs shortly. I quite liked this last year. I tossed a couple in the cellar and popped one a week or so ago. It was still good. I'm holding onto a 2014 Weendigo to see how it compares with this year's batch. Wonder if they used Jack Daniels barre...

Re: LCBO 2015 Xmas Release

Any early thoughts on the Petrus Winter #9, 2015 Cuvee Barique, Red Racer Gingerhead or Leffe Royale? I surprised myself this morning by buying one of each. Most I have purchased at the LCBO in a great deal of time! Cracked open the Leffe Royale tonight. Not exactly disappointed, but not super-impr...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

She looked annoyed I think that is one of the prerequisites for being hired at the beer store in the first place. When interviewing new employees, preference is always given to surly, annoyed-looking, short middle-aged women that have never heard of the beer you are looking for, as well as to disin...

Glad to see that 456 Marzen on retail shelves. I recall stopping at Neustadt on the way back from a camping trip a few years ago, grabbing a few cans of 456 (among other things) and enjoying them quite a bit. Definitely worth a try if you enjoy the style.

Re: Forked River Gets Approval to Open Non-Attached Retail

I remember reading about this when the news dropped earlier this year. If you have ever been to the commercial park where the brewery is located, you'll probably agree that the government's stance was a load of red tape horse shit based entirely on a technicality. Hopefully this means they'll have b...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Wellington Imperial Russian Stout 4 x 341 mL LCBO 296269 I hope it is going to remain available in single tallboys. I like their IRS, but at no point have I ever needed/wanted four of them at once, and my refrigerator real estate is limited. When the LCBO switches from singles to four-packs, I tend...
