The what style? I believe you are referring to a paper style that does not actually exist in Germany. There is only one Altbier style, and it is from Dusseldorf. I'm curious if you have any insight as to where this actually comes from (I mean, where the BJCP guys dug this one up because that's the ...

Argh

I definitely tip my hat to Lakeport for knocking off Corona. And ultimately I could care less what they do and believe that Molson, Labatt and Sleeman beers are all way overpriced. But Lakeport is not a small brewer. Sleeman is not a craft brewer (mmm....Old Milwaukee). The implication that the writ...

Re: all this

OK, Joey Capps is right - I've been in places where computers are scarce and incredible beers on not. Mr. Letki has every right to disagree with my assessment, by the way. I have no problem with that. I looked at my post - rather a statement of opinion, not fact. The only fact was that I've never be...

Re: African Beer

I was wondering if anyone would have any suggestions for "must try" beers from Africa. I have a friend who will be making a trip to the continent shortly, specifically South Africa, and she has volunteered to possibly smuggle a bottle or two back. Thanks for any and all suggestions. from ...

Personally, I stand 100% behind labelling of ingredients. What McAuslan said about fermentation byproducts (alcohol, etc.) is of no worry to me - those I know are fine...or at least should be.

Abysmal. Seriously, I've seen some total crap beer pieces in my day, but this is the worst I can remember. The "reviewers" are sophomoric idiots who didn't even try. This doesn't even meet the lowliest and most desperate of criteria for optimism - they "at least they're talking about ...

Im intrigued as I like organic products. If they have it bottled fire a bottle my way! The website says that they're selling six-packs at the brewery, so I'm planning on picking one up on Sunday when I'm down there. If you want a bottle or two, we can get together next week or something. In case an...

I don't know how this year's maibock is but last year's was KICK ASS! And for a brew pub to be brewing a dunkle weizen on top of the maibock in the GTA, this could be nothing but good news. Guys!!!! We are crying like babies that we don't have a decent selection. We now have a brew pub with fresh a...

Hart (now Banks Canada) brewed Dragon's Breath under license from the Kingston Brewing Company. They did both bottle and draught. It was by far Hart's most distinctive product and was at the time one of the hoppiest and bitterest beers brewed in Ontario (IBU 40-45). Hart was sued by Desnoes and Ged...

The concept of 'sin taxes' is a throwback to this province's sorry Protestant past, when anything even remotely enjoyable, including, at one point, such obviously begign activities as dancing, was considered sinful purely because it was pleasurable. This is the same cultural context which instructe...

Also not to be a wiseass, but those cherries have been used in that fashion to make lambic for centuries. Surely someone would have carked it by now if there was a danger. But hey, what do beer lovers know about beer?

Well, some good news today...the LCBO is going to release the Rose de Gambrinus so now we only have the Kriek to deal with and a chemical substance which comes from the cherry pits is currently considered a "contaminant" by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency so we now have to wait for a ...
