Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

Re: Stock Ale

Good article... is the beer? It's not too shabby, actually. Mr. Clow turned me on to it when he described it as "the only [MolBatt product] I would personally recommend as being half-decent is Molson Stock Ale. It has an interesting spicey/malt flavour and more body than most Molson & Laba...

Re: Beer in Ireland

So, aside from Guinness (because my f-i-l will insist on dragging me out for several pints and shots of whisky) what else would you recommend me trying? You're going to Ireland to drink Guiness and scotch? :o I was going to recommend some 1798, but I see that the Dublin Brewing Company has closed s...

Where exactly would this person be going to buy this stuff? No Depanneur is going to have enough cases in stock to fill such an order. That, in part, is why there's a desire to know who'll want to go the mule route well in advance of a visit to Quebec; with enough lead time, it should be possible t...

FWIW, the person willing to do the beer run is aiming to be in Quebec come mid-July or so. If anyone is keen upon obtaining beer this way, please send me a PM before the 23rd of this month.

Isn't it technically illegal to send someone on a beer run? Insofar as I'm aware, having someone cross provincial boundries with the amount of beer I suspect we're talking about is quite illegal. That said, someone has offered to serve as a mule. The upside for going thru the 'BO: (1) Everything is...

I haven't heard one way or the other, but then again I haven't got back to the LCBO. Previous private orders of a large-ish size have seen prices drop from the original quote given by the 'BO.

Before we get too carried away with dreaming of all the DdC! goodies we could get if someone were to do a beer run, is there actually anyone out there volunteering to do the long haul out to Ottawa & back to pick up multiple cases of beer?

Dieu du Ciel order, anyone?

I've been hankering for some Péché Mortel for a while now, and since it looks like I won't be Montreal-way for a bit, thought I'd find out about a private order from the 'BO. Heard back today, and thought I'd pass along the info in case anyone was interested in making this a larger order, possibly l...

Just keep in mind that even high ABV beers will hit a cut-off point as well; enjoyed a 9-10 yr old Fin du Monde with some cheese today for a late lunch. The amount of carbonation was way down (mind you, this only by Unibroue standards; still tons of bubbles), and the flavour had mellowed quite a bit...

Excellent marketing. Good marketing might allow a beer to experience a temporary upsurge in sales (ie: Black Label); excellent marketing keeps the sales pumping.

skagheven, what exactly did I "screw up" in regards to Dogfish? My only comment on this thread is that the LCBO bought a paltry 300 cases of DFH 60...they spill that much Corona in an hour! IIRC the LCBO in its unfathomable wisdom declined Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA as a general list item...
