Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Please Peter, are these a 24x 33ml case? Thanks, JK. Didn't I read in another thread that Rochefort 10 is a drainpour. Why are you carrying it Peter? I think you joke... But not all top-rated beers are everyone's cup of suds, are they. I know in my Dark Ages of beer drinking most Belgian beers...

From my side of the glass rings...

Maybe we get over-saturated with taste experiences, and expect bigger and better every time, although I can't presume to account for your impressions. As my taste in beer evolves (well, crawls along), I find the Unibroue "big belgians" rather than diminish in experience take on new dimensi...

LCBO Seasonal Offers... funny peeve of mine

I do appreciate the range of good Winter Warmers singles the LCBO picked up for us this year. But the way they do things puts me a bit on edge: when will the really classic stuff I like the best sell out? How many should I 'hoard' right away, while not depriving the beer fans in my locality? Which o...

I doubt Roddy will sell that well so all interested may like to stockpile it before it delists. Rodenbach isn't a general list item at the LCBO, it part of the limited winter release. So it will "delist" by default when it runs out. I meant to say that it just sits there on the shelf in m...

We may get some Petrus Aged Pale Ale in on consignment ... yet TBD. (There is, by the way, a little APA in the Old Brown ...). (What is APA? Arsenic?) Yes, I bought armloads of it when I saw it this year. Fine beer. Roddy is overpowering, this is more easy going. It has some fine subtleties ...

Once again, dhurtubise, you're coming off as pretty arrogant, and not for the first time in this thread in my opinion, which is what Jon seems to be reacting to as well. Jeff I find a lot of what D says makes sense, even if he pulls no punches. But I don't seek approval of fellow beer geeks either ...

Affligem Blonde Singles Spotted

Funny how the LCBO just randomly leaks out stock of desirable, interesting beer once in a while without any fanfare. If you seach LCBO.COM you will find Toronto stores with AFFLIGEM BLONDE which means you don't have to commit to buying a whole case or the whole gift-pack for yourself just to try it....

Tip 'o' the hat to the beermaker

Rodenbach Grand Cru... 2.25... can't be that good! Ahh, try two, that's the rule. Got it home. Tried it. Hmm. Brie mold flavor? Stuck the other bottle in the fridge. Few days later, try again. Wow! This is punchy sour like a good Gueuze, but really different in flavor nuances!! In fact (and no dis t...

DELERIUM TREMENS - Ideas for general petition, defeat LCBO?

Our taxes researched, selected, marketed and introduced this product DELERIUM TREMENS at the LCBO... now our taxes are being spent taking this product away from us, because ONE Canadian Mugwump lacked a sense of proportion about a stupid name on a beer, a beer that clearly is designed not to offend...

Where to buy BELGIAN inGMY?

I was wondering, as I am in Bavaria and Hamburg for a month, if there are good places to find Belgian beer. I´d like to try those the Guv won´t allow us to have in good old Kanada!

Cheers. I´ll drink an Andechs for you guys.

...Upper Canada was in no where near the kind of financial shape Unibroue is in, U.C. was not overly successful outside of the Ontario market and wasn't a profitable operation. Sleeman didn't purchase it because of it's success, it was purchased to eliminate competition, pure and simple. Now longer...
