Re: Ottawa and area help

Problem with Bros is that they aren't that locally focused. Lots of Bellwoods and Great lakes and stuff you'd see in Toronto. Wellington Gastro Pub is likely your better bet for local/regional beer. Hell, even CRAFT likely has more local/regional than Bros on most nights. For brewery drinking hard t...

Re: Syracuse

Was in Watertown today. Bear World wasn't much to see. Same as usual. Bottle Caps had a really nice selection of some of the NYC beers.. Carton, Grimm, Finback, and Night Shift from MA. KBS Growler Fills.

Was into Maggie's for the first time, really good spot!! Lunch and KBS on tap, can't go wrong.

Re: Beer in Ogdensburg NY

Oops, I posted this in the Ottawa thread as well, sorry! Man, there isn't much around Cornwall on the other side for bottles! - CJ's was absolutely gross, the IPAs were ancient, the store is full of sketchy people returning bottles. - The Potsdam IGA is mostly a waste of time. Old Lagunitas or SN pr...

Re: Washington DC / Northern Virginia suburbs

Just got back from a week in DC, another great week this time though coinciding with the Craft Brewer's Conference. Not the best week if all you wanted to do was see places like Churchkey in their regular state as many of the places and taplists were crazy packed for the Conference events. None of m...

Craft Brewer's Conference

We had a thread for the Portland event, but I was just in DC for the latest and thought it should have it's own thread. If the mods prefer to merge it to a more generic thread with a new title no issues, have at it! So, a great week in DC coinciding with the Craft Brewers Conference. Soooooo many gr...

Re: Washington DC / Northern Virginia suburbs

Thanks for the update! I'll be there Monday. Looking to hit up Brookland Pint for the first time, they have some killer CBC events and I'm hoping the distance will lessen the crowds a bit. Churchkey also has a ton of insane events planned, but the crazy turnout for the HF event on the weekend has me...

Re: Edmonton?

There's another neighbourhood brewpub opening sometime late April, early May just 2 blocks from my house. Brewery is called Blind Enthusiasm, and they are really going to 'shake' the scene up a little with their barrel aged program, and their wild fermented programs. http://www.canadianbeernews.com...

Re: Winnipeg?

Just got back yesterday and visited the following with comments: PEG: ....the service was just a tiny bit slow at times but I was with friends so it was okay. Barnhammer: .... Servers were slightly less knowledgeable about the beer than I would expect from a place like that. They are only serving T...

Re: Winnipeg?

Good few days in Winnipeg. Hit up a few new spots (to me): PEG Beer: really nice spot, great pizza. Beer was solid. The Common: awesome idea, 20 taps and 20 wine in the Forks, grab a drink and walk around looking at the trinkets. Food from the stalls. Beer offerings were mostly local with some Beau'...

Re: Edmonton?

Another solid time in Edmonton. Hit up the usual spots, Beer Revolution, Craft, Underground. Definitely seemed to be a lot more Alberta beer on tap, for better or for worse. Few new spots (to me anyway): Situation Brewing: Really cool spot, and probably the best beer I've had from Alberta. MKT: just...

Re: Nova Scotia

Thanks for the report. Did you really think the new Tom's is as awesome as the old? I didn't have a very good experience. Maybe they were just having an off night. This isn't my first visit since it changed locations, and I admit that I'm biased in that a few of the wait staff know me by name there...

Re: Nova Scotia

Just got back from a few days in Halifax. New to me: Battery Park... really awesome spot! Maybe 15 beer on tap, handful of North taps (they have a retail bottle shop on site as well) and a good mix of other regionals. Food was awesome, great vibe. If it was in the city, it would make an awesome alte...
