Possibly, but it would be hard to say the GENERAL food quality is bad in Quebec. Quite the opposite I have found, mon ami. I think he was talking specifically about the food at St. Hubert. Joe is correct! 8) Ahh, and it was all so clearly explained. Glad you had a good time out there. I thin...

Be sure to direct your friend to a good fresh pint of Denison's Weisse. German style. I like the Paulaner HW you get at the beer store as well. I think he's out of luck for Weltenburger Asam Bock until next time. There's some Paulaner Salvator kicking around LCBO stores if you look, decent. I also t...

Yeah, but it's "Stealth Beer!" 8-10% Belgies and Impy Stouts etc, I mean if they only bothered to check WHAT beer you were carting over...

This is excellent news!

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." Not to mention more tasty than others! But I can get so hungry I could eat a horse... which brings us back to the good food and beer at BeerBistro! Re: the Delireum Tremens, sadly I'm not drinking it anymore beca...

This could be the beginning of e great friendship... Premiere and BarTowel, united against the tyrannical LCBO!

I, too will inquire about a few things next time I'm down there.

Any hassles at the border you guys? Just declare it & it's all cool?

Re: New Unibroue Beer?

I heard a rumor that Unibroue is coming out with a new dark beer sometime in the fall/early winter. Has anyone heard about this and what style it might be? It's the newly-announced UNIBROUE DARK HONEY BROWN (in a shiny new can!) and it will be replacing all those pesky dark Belgian ales they were m...

I was pining for this exact beer just the other day.

It was something I drain-poured in my student days, alas, and I love porters now. Nethergate Old Growler is a nice mild session porter with some body.

I'm surprised it's back, bring it on Okocim!

.... I would be extremly surprised if Terrible were brewed with licorice as this is not an ingredient used in brewing the big brown Belgians. Besides that, I can't for the life of me pick any such flavours from the beer. I like that you or I can't pick out every ingredient of such a beer. Those Bel...

I really didn't enjoy my first bomber of La Terrible months ago, but opening the second one last night I found it magical. One difference is I didn't cool it. It had nice underpinnings of wine-like flavor, sort of a young Moulin-A-Vent like sugariness and an almost Pino Noir-ish grapey/dark berry th...

There's a Lion Stout from Jamaica currently sold at LCBO, that's why. Thinking of Dragon Stout? GONG!!! Oh crap, and I was so sure I had a pithy, smug little answer. There is only one "Lion Stout" on RateBeer I now see. SINHA means "Lion" in Sinhala, the language spoken by the m...

I think the reason they can't (or don't want to) call it Lion stout is due to the Huether Hotel in Waterloo having an attached brewery called "The Lion Brewery", maybe they have/had a stout? There's a Lion Stout from Jamaica currently sold at LCBO, that's why. I must try La Terrible again...
