Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Ah, no, they were expected to be similar within any given pub. Hence, "Ah sure, Powers pulls a good pint!" A pub was expected to have good enough QA so that a pint was of a certain quality, which is a nightmare if your running a place with any more than 10 patrons.

I'll tell you exactly who wouldn't... any publican in Ireland. Trying to get identical pours to 500 000 people on any given night at any bar in Dublin would be a royal pain.

Gotcha, thanks. Trying to get a beer at the LCBO is worse than trying to find a Nintendo Wii.

Anyone else been to Porto? Best trip of my life (even beat Belgium). No city, not even the champagne cities, make tasting booze so easy. Cheap and because they are all so similar you really get an idea of the little differences that make the various ports. I'd go back there in a second.

The Maple Bock made me cry. Not simply because it was bad, but because somewhere, lingering just beyond discernable, was the potential for a good beer.

I've been happy to see a couple small, but really good restaurants, here in Ottawa stocking good beer. For the most part their offerings are very limited, only because it still isn't fashionable to order beer at a fine dining restaurant. Nonetheless, when I see a Stewart's tap behind their bar I mak...

At the risk of becoming a pariah, I enjoy Wychwood brews and especially enjoyed this one. I find them all really sessionable and enjoy the sweet malt character they all share. I spent alot of time in the British Isles tasting ales and Wychwood brews emerged as some of my favourites. To each their ow...

Loved Harvey's, one of the best beers I've had in the past few months... and it's been a good month. Still plenty of them hanging around Ottawa's Rideau store.
